Pond shooting season

In the dry season, when the fields are covered with straw and the canals are dry, it is also the season of catching fish in ponds. In Khanh Hai commune, Tran Van Thoi district, this is the season when people eagerly work together to catch fish in ponds and share the fish. People in the land of freshwater fish are also happy because they have extra income during the off-season.

At Trum Thuat hamlet, Khanh Hai commune, from early morning, the men started going to the fields to clean the banks, prepare some tools to take pictures of the pond, the reeds were pinned with nets, about 30 minutes later they started to put the nets up. Many men, young people, women, children... also came to the pond to watch the taking pictures of the pond, from here the village and neighborhood ties became tighter.

During the pond shooting season, the atmosphere is bustling throughout the countryside.

This year, thanks to protecting the freshwater fish source, Mr. Dinh Van Ut's pond in Trum Thuat hamlet harvested a lot of fish. After the fish are pulled up, the women will choose, the big fish will be sold, the rest will be kept to eat, entertain guests... Because the freshwater fish are natural, many people order them, mainly snakehead fish, giant catfish, perch... Just counting snakehead fish alone, Mr. Ut's family harvested more than 30 kg, including other types of fish, the total revenue is more than 15 million VND.

Thanks to the protection of freshwater fish resources, a wide variety of fish are exploited.

It is known that since Directive 17 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on strengthening the leadership and direction of Party committees and authorities at all levels on the destructive exploitation of aquatic resources in the province, freshwater fish resources have gradually recovered, and people have become more aware of declaring and handing over electric shock devices... Sectors and local levels in the province have resolutely directed this work through propaganda solutions and handling violations to protect freshwater fish resources.

Mr. Pham Thanh Duoc, Chairman of Khanh Hai Commune People's Committee, informed: "Recently, rice prices have increased, many people have lowered their beds to cultivate the fields. The Party Committee and the Commune People's Committee have encouraged people to renovate, build beds, and deepen the ditches so that when pumping and draining water, there will be a place for fish to hide; when water is taken in, the fish will return to the fields to grow. Pond fishing is very good, when fishing, big fish are caught, and small fish are released back for breeding, thereby maintaining the fish resource."
