The prestigious US financial news site Benzinga said that the winner of the bid to buy MU is likely to be revealed later today, June 27.

This source also added information that excited Red Devils football fans: Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim could be their new owner.

The Glazers have been selling MU since November 2022, but the prolonged process has made Red Devils fans impatient and planning to protest against the owners in the US.

In reality, the bidding to buy MU was just a race between Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Qatari billionaire Sheikh Jassim. At one point, the British billionaire was reported to be close to winning because he offered to let the Glazers keep a small stake.

However, recently, Qatari media asserted that billionaire Sheikh Jassim is about to become the new owner of the Red Devils, after the 5th offer came earlier this month.

According to the latest news, the final winner could be decided today. An M&A advisor told Benzinga : “The outcome (of the sale of MU) from the bidder’s perspective will be known when the club reports its financial results on June 27.”

The source added: “The likely winner of the takeover bid is Qatari Sheikh Kassim bin Harnad Al Thani, who is believed to have made his final bid earlier this month.”

After making the 5th offer to MU, the Qatari billionaire was given a clear message: that was the final bid and they would give up bidding if the Glazers still did not make a clear move.

The delay in selling United, according to Philip Brown of BTP, is due to a split in the Glazer family. Avram and Joel Glazer want the club to be handed over to Sir Jim, while their siblings agree that it should be Sheikh Jassim.

Therefore, despite the news that the new owner of MU could be revealed today, Benzinga still quoted a source as saying: "I really don't know what's going on in this MU sale."

Even if the new owner of MU is confirmed today, the takeover of the club will take 8-10 weeks to complete the paperwork, which means entering the new season.

MU has not yet brought any new players to Old Trafford, causing coach Erik ten Hag a headache.
