This morning (August 2), Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Phuong, Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport, signed a notice not to increase tuition fees for the 2023-2024 school year.
Parents and students pay tuition fees at a university in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the announcement, Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport has unanimously decided that the 2023-2024 school year will be the fourth consecutive year that the school will keep the tuition fees unchanged for full-time university students.
The specific tuition fee for the standard training program is 354,000 VND/credit and for the high-quality program is 770,000 VND/credit.
Sharing more about how to calculate tuition fees, the school representative said that with the above unit price of credits, students admitted in the 2023-2024 school year will pay an average of more than 10.6 million VND/year in tuition fees for the standard program (1 year 2 semesters, about 30 credits). For the high-quality program, students will pay an average of about 23.1 million VND/year.
The school made the above decision in the context of the difficult socio-economic situation after the pandemic, following the policy of the Government and state management agencies to create conditions for students to access university education.
A representative of Ho Chi Minh City University of Transport added: "Not increasing tuition fees for the 2023-2024 school year means that the school will face many difficulties such as: income for staff and lecturers; modernizing facilities and equipment for learning... However, the school is still determined to fulfill its mission of training high-quality human resources for the transport industry and the country. At the same time, the school calls on staff, lecturers and employees to join the school and students in sharing the difficulties in the current period."
Previously, as reported by Thanh Nien Newspaper, the Government Office issued a notice of the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha at a meeting on the draft Decree amending and supplementing a number of articles of Decree 81 of 2021 of the Government (regulations on the mechanism for collecting and managing tuition fees for educational institutions in the national education system and policies on exemption, reduction, non-increase of tuition fees, support for learning costs; service prices in the field of education and training).
