Disciplining doctors and medical staff for advertising functional foods

Faced with the reality that some doctors, pharmacists, and medical staff participate in advertising food and functional foods, causing misunderstandings for users, the Department of Food Safety and Hygiene ( Ministry of Health ) affirms that in advertising food and functional foods: "Do not use images, equipment, costumes, names, correspondence of medical units, facilities, doctors, pharmacists, medical staff, thank you letters from patients, articles of doctors, pharmacists, and medical staff to advertise food".

The Ministry of Health requires reviewing and rectifying the use of images of doctors and medical staff to advertise functional foods.

To rectify the situation of some doctors, pharmacists, and medical staff participating in advertising food and functional foods, causing misunderstandings to users, today, April 17, the Ministry of Health issued Official Dispatch No. 2310/BYT-ATTP requesting hospitals and institutes under the Ministry of Health; medical and pharmaceutical schools; associations and unions related to food to notify all cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers (including workers of the unit who have retired) about the above situation.

At the same time, review, inspect, and handle according to authority or recommend competent authorities to handle if there are violations.

According to current regulations, it is a violation of the law for doctors, pharmacists, and medical staff to participate in advertising foods and functional foods that mislead users.
