NDO – As usual, playing Mid-Autumn Festival early is a “specialty” in Tuyen Quang. Since a month ago, residential groups in Tuyen Quang province have been making giant models of Mid-Autumn lanterns to prepare for the 2024 Thanh Tuyen Festival.
With nearly 10 years of experience in making giant mid-autumn lantern models, Mr. Pham Ngoc Tuyen, a lantern manufacturing facility in Group 2, Minh Xuan Ward, Tuyen Quang City said: "Previously, the material used to make models was bamboo and rattan, which was difficult to shape. Later, switching to iron, which is easier to bend and when pasted, it will cover the woven ribs, making the model more beautiful."

Mr. Tuyen smiled and shared that since the beginning of the year, he has only “focused on producing” 14 models. The models were ordered from residential groups in the area and also from distant provinces such as Thai Nguyen, Cao Bang, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Thanh Hoa.
Through many years of production, Mr. Tuyen is a "hard worker" with a lot of experience in making vivid lamp models, with many different shapes, themes and sizes.

Having many years of experience in making models, this year, people of Group 6, Tan Quang Ward, Tuyen Quang City came together to come up with ideas, build a theme and design the model "Legend of Tuyen".
The model depicts a dragon boat gliding on the Lo River to the land of Na Hang, where there are 99 mountains. On the top of the mountain is a Phoenix, a symbol of prosperity, bringing new opportunities and new success to the land and people.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyen, Head of Residential Group 6, Tan Quang Ward, Tuyen Quang City shared: "Through the model, we want to remind our children to strive to study well, train to be worthy of being the next generation with the tradition of patriotism and love for the homeland of the people of Tuyen and want to tell friends around the world that our Tuyen Quang is very beautiful".

After more than 3 months of working together to make the model, the model has now been completed and is ready to attend the Festival. All costs for making the model were discussed and agreed upon by the people.

After preparing for the Mid-Autumn Festival about a month in advance, every night, on the streets around Tuyen Quang city, giant Mid-Autumn Festival models with many unique shapes take to the streets with a variety of colors, sounds and brilliant lights.
This year, there are over 100 giant moon lantern models and mini moon lanterns participating in the parade.

Thanh Tuyen Festival is a unique, characteristic, and exclusive Mid-Autumn Festival of Tuyen Quang province with hundreds of giant, colorful mid-autumn lantern models that have been recognized by the Vietnam Guinness Book of Records as the Festival with the most unique and largest mid-autumn lantern models in Vietnam.

Over the years, the Festival has become a famous and unique tourism product of Tuyen Quang, attracting tens of thousands of domestic and international tourists each time it takes place. Thereby, it contributes to concretizing the goals, tasks and solutions to develop tourism into an important economic sector of the province.

Mr. Vu Xuan Quynh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Tan Quang Ward, Tuyen Quang City, said that the People's Committee of the ward has widely disseminated to all cadres, party members and people in the area about the code of conduct in the Thanh Tuyen Festival in 2024, ensuring good preparation of conditions to serve the Festival of intangible cultural heritage performance and Thanh Tuyen Festival. In particular, focusing on the culture of behavior towards tourists.

In particular, 26 hotels, motels, homestays and 44 restaurants along with cultural and tourism service establishments under the ward's management have ensured all conditions to welcome tourists during the festival and committed not to arbitrarily raise prices or solicit tourists.
The ward effectively launched the movement "Beautify our streets", 100% of the residential groups in the area have developed ideas and implemented the decoration of streets and alleys. In particular, the focus is on implementing the decoration of LED lights and green trees on Binh Thuan street, this is the main street where giant lantern models are paraded during the festival.

In order to bring good impressions to tourists, Tuyen Quang City People's Committee has issued a code of conduct to build Tuyen Quang City culture "civilized - friendly - clean" during the festival.
Accommodation and food service establishments must ensure all conditions to welcome tourists during the festival and commit not to arbitrarily raise prices or solicit tourists; ensure security, order and environmental sanitation.
