With the theme of the year: "Dedication - Professionalism - Expertise - Modernity - Solidarity - Discipline - Accelerating to the finish line", in 2024, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thanh Hoa has made efforts, been creative, dared to think, dared to do, and resolutely and focusedly implemented the assigned tasks. Thanks to that, many outstanding results have been achieved in all fields of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
In order to achieve the goal of building and developing an advanced culture imbued with national identity, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has strengthened state management in the fields of culture and cultural heritage. Many relics have been restored and embellished. Many unique traditional festivals, preserving the traditional cultural beauty of the nation, have been organized, attracting a large number of people and tourists to participate. Notably, in 2024, Thanh Hoa will have 6 more intangible cultural heritages recognized as national intangible cultural heritages. The ranking of heritages, especially national intangible cultural heritages, has consolidated and enriched the treasure of Thanh Hoa's cultural heritage, affirming the historical and cultural traditions of the land of outstanding people.
Identifying culture as both the goal and the driving force of the development process, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism always focuses on improving the quality of grassroots culture. Mass cultural activities, cultural festivals, performances and competitions across the province are vigorously implemented. The movement "All people unite to build a cultural life" develops deeply, widely and effectively. In 2024, the rate of cultural families will reach 83%; the rate of villages, hamlets and residential groups recognized as cultural residential areas will reach 82.3%. Along with that, propaganda and agitation activities, performances, film screenings, exhibitions, libraries, museums, historical research and compilation, and family work will be maintained and effectively implemented.
In 2024, Thanh Hoa's sports sector also achieved many outstanding achievements. Physical education and sports for everyone developed vigorously, attracting about 44.6% of the population to participate in regular physical education and sports. High-performance sports achieved many remarkable results. Athletes of teams and high-performance sports competed in 149 tournaments (121 national tournaments, 28 international tournaments), winning 1,010 medals of all kinds. Athlete Pham Thi Van, from the Swimming team participating in the 11th Asian Age Group Championship in the Philippines, excellently achieved 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal and 1 bronze medal, and broke the record for the age group of 18 and above. Athlete Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc, Jujitsu team participating in the Asian Youth Championship and Championship in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) excellently won 3 gold medals, 2 silver medals, creating a historic feat for the Thanh Hoa Jujitsu Team... Dong A Thanh Hoa Football Club successfully defended the title of National Cup champion in 2024, being 1 of 3 clubs to win the National Cup twice in a row.
With the goal of turning tourism into a spearhead economic sector, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism is always proactive, creative, flexible and highly determined in carrying out its tasks. From the beginning of the year, a list of cultural, sports and tourism events in 2024 in the province was issued. Tourism promotion, advertising and information activities have been effectively implemented. Many tourism products have built their brands. The total number of visitors in the year is estimated at 15,300,000, an increase of 22.5% compared to 2023, reaching 110.9% of the 2024 plan (of which international visitors are estimated at 719,000). Total tourism revenue is estimated at VND 33,815 billion, an increase of 38% compared to 2023, reaching 104.4% of the 2024 plan.
The year 2024 has ended, marking the efforts to overcome challenges and outstanding achievements of the Culture, Sports and Tourism sector. These achievements are the basis for the sector to continue to innovate, affirming the important role of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the sustainable socio-economic development of the province.
