After 2 days of hard work, young parliamentarians attending the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians highly appreciated the results achieved at the Conference. After this Conference, delegates hope for the solidarity of countries and the cohesion of young parliamentarians towards common global goals.
CLOSING OF THE 9TH GLOBAL YOUNG PARLIAMENTARIES CONFERENCE: ACHIEVEMENT OF COMMON AWARENESS ON INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND THE PIONEER ROLE OF YOUNG PARLIAMENTARIES
After 2 working days, the conference reached common perceptions and promoted international cooperation, multilateralism, basic principles of the United Nations and international law in accelerating the implementation of the SDGs; mentioned and emphasized the particularly important role of parliaments in implementing the SDGs, especially in perfecting the legal framework to facilitate the implementation of the SDGs in the context of the current difficulties in implementing the goals.

The conference emphasized the “pioneering role” of young parliamentarians in bringing the voice of youth to the parliament as well as applying innovation and creativity to the implementation of the SDGs; affirming that the participation of young people will contribute to accelerating and finding new directions for the realization of the SDGs. In order to make an actionable commitment and ensure continued implementation, the conference also proposed promoting a global network of young parliamentarians on digital transformation and innovation, within the framework of the Forum of Young Parliamentarians, in close coordination with the IPU’s Centre for Parliamentary Innovation, to discuss the content of innovation and new technology trends and support each other and share experiences on innovation and creativity; mainstreaming innovation and digital transformation into the agenda or discussions of the IPU in the future.
Young parliamentarians said that the 9th Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians was a complete success in all aspects, showing that the IPU Young Parliamentarians Forum is very necessary and useful for young parliamentarians and continues to affirm the importance of young parliamentarians in particular and young people in general as future owners of each country, nation and the whole world in participating in implementing the goals and tasks of the IPU and the United Nations.
Mr. Sven Clement, Member of the Luxembourg House of Representatives
Expressing his feelings, Mr. Sven Clement, Member of the House of Representatives of Luxembourg, emphasized that the Declaration of the Conference on Promoting the Sustainable Development Goals through the adoption has demonstrated the commitment and specific action goals of all young parliamentarians to implement in their own countries. The Member of the House of Representatives of Luxembourg highly appreciated the commitment of the Vietnamese National Assembly, the full participation, responsibility and the practical and effective contributions of Vietnam to the IPU agenda. Mr. Seven Clement assessed that right from the Hanoi Declaration nearly a decade ago, the Vietnamese National Assembly has demonstrated its responsibility when, together with member parliaments, unanimously committed to action and accompanying the United Nations in implementing the SDGs. This Conference once again demonstrates that spirit and commitment of the Vietnamese National Assembly. Along with that is the stronger support of the parliaments of other countries as well as the solidarity of countries towards common global goals.

Sharing the same view, Ms. Mariam Lashkhi, First Deputy Chairwoman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament, said that the most successful thing about this conference was that the delegates reached a consensus to work towards a better future. Innovation, technology and digital transformation, while promoting the development of the world, also face certain challenges. The conference has proposed some good and creative ways for us to solve those challenges.
For Ms. Yetunde Bakare, Member of the Nigerian Parliament, the success of the conference is the spirit of solidarity to find a direction for sustainable development and solve challenges in the development process. The success for Ms. Yetunde Bakare is also in the fact that the Nigerian Parliamentary Delegation has learned from the experiences of other parliaments to apply in Nigeria's development practice.
Mr. Mjtaba Rezakhah, Head of the IPU Group of the Iranian Parliament
As for Mr. Mjtaba Rezakhah, Head of the IPU Group of the Iranian Parliament, he felt the solidarity between national parliaments at this Conference to ensure that the legal framework on digital transformation, innovation and respect for cultural diversity at any level is needed. Mr. Mjtaba Rezakhah was pleased that with this global issue, the countries have come together in a common process, with a common voice to overcome global challenges and the youth are the core force to promote strength in this process.
The young parliamentarians also shared the same views and highly appreciated the work of organizing the Conference of the National Assembly of Vietnam, the role of the National Assembly of Vietnam in the IPU, and affirmed that in every stage of development of countries, the National Assembly and parliamentarians with their legislative and supervisory roles need to always be the pioneering force in efforts to reform laws, institutions and international integration, between people of countries and ethnic groups, contributing to peace, friendship, cooperation and sustainable development in each region as well as on a global scale.
It is expected that the Declaration of this Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians will continue to promote its noble missions, affirming its continued active contribution to the implementation of sustainable development goals set out in the context of Industry 4.0. Parliamentarians also expressed their determination and commitment to move towards a better future for the world, in which the National Assembly needs to connect youth and policy to the community to achieve social progress; allocate more budget to support young businesses; and promote science and innovation for sustainable development to enhance understanding and digital capacity for youth.
