(NLDO) - Today, March 15, cold air is pouring in, causing the North to turn very cold, while the South and Central Highlands are sunny and hot.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, the cold air mass is still moving south. From this afternoon and tonight, March 15, the cold air mass will affect the Northeast, North Central and some places in the Northwest, then affect other places in the Northwest, Central Central and some places in the South Central.

From the night of March 15, the weather in the North and North Central regions will turn cold, with some mountainous areas in the North experiencing severe cold.

From around March 17, the area from Quang Binh to Hue will turn cold. The lowest temperature during this cold spell in the North is generally 13-16 degrees Celsius, in mountainous areas below 10 degrees in some places; North Central region is generally 14-17 degrees; Quang Binh to Hue is generally 17-19 degrees.

Hanoi area from the night of March 15th, the weather will turn cold. The lowest temperature in this cold air mass is commonly 14-16 degrees Celsius.

At sea, from the evening and night of March 15, in the Gulf of Tonkin, the wind will shift to the Northeast and gradually increase to level 7, gusting to level 9, with rough seas and waves 2.0-3.5 m high; in the North East Sea (including the waters of the Hoang Sa archipelago), the wind will be strong at level 6-7, gusting to level 8-9, with rough seas and waves 3-5.5 m high.

From the afternoon and night of March 16, the sea area from Quang Tri to Ca Mau will have northeast winds gradually increasing to level 6, gusting to level 7-8, rough seas; waves 2-4 m high.

Due to the influence of the cold air strengthening, from the evening of March 15 to the early morning of March 16, the Northern and North Central regions will have scattered rain and showers and thunderstorms in some places.

From the night of March 15, the area from Quang Binh to Khanh Hoa will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas experiencing moderate to heavy rain. Thunderstorms may include tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind.

Thanh Hoa to Hue city is cloudy, with rain in some places during the day, early morning fog and scattered light fog, sunny in the afternoon; at night there is rain, scattered showers and thunderstorms in some places. Lowest temperature 19-22 degrees. Highest temperature 29-32 degrees.

From Da Nang to Binh Thuan, it is cloudy and sunny during the day; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. Lowest temperature 23-26 degrees. Highest temperature 30-33 degrees.

The Central Highlands is cloudy, sunny during the day, hot in some places; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. Lowest temperature 20-23 degrees. Highest temperature 31-34 degrees, some places over 35 degrees.

The Southern region is cloudy, sunny during the day, hot in some places; showers and thunderstorms in some places in the evening and at night. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperature is 23-26 degrees. The highest temperature is 32-35 degrees, some places are over 35 degrees.
