March has quietly left. April follows, starting a new season with many aspirations. Every time April comes , my heart feels an indescribable feeling. A little nostalgia, a little waiting, a little hope intertwine and blend.

In the days of April, the countryside is as beautiful as a painting . In the morning, my mother came back from the field, her feet still covered with mud, whispering: "The rice has passed, my daughter, the ears are done, wait a little longer and the flowers will bloom". In my mother's whisper, in my mind appeared the immense rice fields, the rice plants embracing each other and growing up. The harvest season has come with the fields full of grain, golden in the summer sun, people picking and reaping rice with sickles. Like a sweet promise, making people eagerly wait.

In April, the garden seems to be racing to bloom, bearing fruit. The flowers have been carefully nurtured by the sap of life, nurturing the cold drizzle to wait for April to bloom. The mango tree is full of fruit swinging under the canopy of sparkling green leaves, a few clusters of late-blooming ivory-white flowers call the diligent bees to come and collect nectar. The longan tree is no less impressive, stretching its arms to the sky to catch the wind, welcoming the sun, blooming in immense clusters. The star fruit flowers are gentle, with purple flowers like tiny stars in the blue sky of April. Every time I think of the garden, I think of my childhood, where there was a swing between two longan trees, where I sat there every noon. I fell asleep in the garden many times, despite the chirping of birds on the branches.

April awakens the blooming royal poinciana flowers, making me nostalgic about my past school years. Suddenly, I find myself back to the time when I was a schoolgirl wearing a long dress in the school yard, feeling nostalgic when summer has just begun and school years are about to end. School years are innocent and incredibly beautiful. I miss my teachers, friends, school, and every handwriting of each member left in the student yearbook.

There are angers, reproaches, and joys that cannot be fully described. I only know that every time I remember them, my heart is filled with regret. Echoing in my ears are the lyrics of the song “Old Memories of Wishes” by musician Xuan Phuong: “If you have a wish in this life/ Remember to wish for time to return/ For all the burning desires and passions/ To remain forever in everyone’s heart/ So that love… dreams will never fade…” as a reminder of the poetic school days.

In April, I returned home after a long and busy year. When I entered the house, I saw my grandfather preparing and cleaning the old war relics. Under the golden April sunlight, his medals and awards sparkled even more. I realized that his youth was devoted to the Fatherland. My generation is able to live in peace and inherit good values thanks to the silent sacrifices of my grandfather and father.

He recounted the glorious historical years, the month of April when the country was reunified, bustling with the joy of unity and the pride of millions of Vietnamese people. His eyes were red when he talked about his comrades from the past. He was one of the few lucky ones who were able to return to his homeland after the war, some of his friends had died for peace and national reunification.

Every April, I love the red flag with a sparkling yellow star in the middle even more, I love the heroic songs "Marching to Saigon", "Unification Song",... April is like a song connecting memories with the present, a solid foundation for me to confidently step into life. My emotions and soul are enriched with good things every time April comes. I am always happy and grateful for the moments of the past, present and believe in a beautiful tomorrow!
