On November 4, information from the Department of Transport of Dong Nai province said that it is coordinating with the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City to consider and add 5 bus routes from Ho Chi Minh City connecting to Long Thanh airport in Long Thanh district (Dong Nai) to increase the capacity of public passenger transport when Long Thanh airport is expected to be completed and put into operation in phase 1 in 2026.

Long Thanh Airport Phase 1 has a capacity to serve 25 million passengers per year. According to forecasts by authorities, about 80% of passengers will need to travel from Long Thanh Airport to Ho Chi Minh City and vice versa.
According to the plan, the connection between Long Thanh airport and Ho Chi Minh City will mainly be carried out through two main traffic axes: Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay expressway and provincial roads 25B, 25C via Cat Lai bridge, Ring Road 3 - Ho Chi Minh City.
In addition, the Ministry of Transport is also seeking opinions from localities on 5 options for connecting Tan Son Nhat Airport with Long Thanh Airport, including 2 road options and 3 railway routes. The road options are 43 - 62 km long, with priority given to direct bus routes and other types of transport such as taxis and private vehicles. The railway options are 42 - 45 km long.
