At the meeting with Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, Meta representative said he wanted to expand investment in Vietnam, including the production of metaverse devices.
The production of metaverse devices is one of the highlights of cooperation with Vietnam, as Meta mentioned when meeting the Prime Minister on September 18.
According to Joel Kaplan, Vice President of Public Policy at Meta, before the Covid-19 pandemic broke out, the group had begun manufacturing some devices for the "virtual universe" (metaverse) in Vietnam. However, this was interrupted due to the pandemic. "The group wants to expand its investment in Vietnam, including continuing to produce metaverse devices for the coming years," Mr. Kaplan said.

Meta, formerly known as Facebook, is a multinational technology corporation that owns and operates Facebook, Instagram, Threads, and WhatsApp. In 2022, the corporation had a revenue of 116.6 billion USD, making it one of the most valuable companies in the world. In Vietnam, Facebook is also one of the most popular social networks.
In addition to producing metaverse devices, Vice President Meta also mentioned some cooperation activities in Vietnam such as signing a memorandum of understanding with the National Innovation Center (NIC) on promoting innovation and digital transformation activities in Vietnam; cooperating with the Vietnam Government Electronic Information Portal to promote fanpage activities, increasing to 4.2 million followers, becoming the most successful fanpage compared to other countries in the region.
In the coming time, Meta will cooperate more with Vietnamese agencies, especially supporting Vietnamese small, medium and micro enterprises to approach customers and train human resources for digital transformation.
At the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that within the framework of the recently established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, Vietnam and the US have identified cooperation in science, technology and innovation as a new breakthrough in bilateral relations, and agreed to comprehensively cooperate to promote innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
The Prime Minister welcomed Meta's continued cooperation with the Vietnam Innovation Center (NIC) as well as Vietnamese agencies and enterprises in the spirit of mutual victory, making the best use of the Vietnamese market with a population of 100 million.
He said that the future of the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership depends largely on the ability to realize the potential and opportunities between businesses of the two countries, in order to develop investment and business in priority areas.

The Prime Minister believes that cooperation activities with Meta will become increasingly effective and substantive, especially in key areas such as digital economy, artificial intelligence, digital content, innovation and digital transformation in enterprises. He hopes that Meta will continue to provide Vietnam with more technological solutions and technology transfer; at the same time, cooperate financially to develop science and technology, innovation, promote digital transformation; and cooperate to improve management capacity in areas where Meta has strengths.
In addition, cooperation in training high-quality human resources, preventing cybercrime, ensuring network safety and security, and increasing the provision of positive and accurate information about the relationship between the two countries were issues emphasized by the Prime Minister.
