Reflecting to Tuoi Tre, Ms. Bao Dung (HCMC) said she had just encountered a case. impersonate shipper scam with extremely sophisticated script.

She said that while she was working, she received a call from an unknown number, the caller claimed to be a shipper informing her that there was an order worth 260,000 VND that she had placed on the platform. e-commerce

Because she couldn't remember whether she had placed the order or not due to her habit of surfing the internet and shopping on livestream, Ms. Dung transferred the money after the shipper said she had to receive it urgently.

However, as soon as the transfer was completed, the shipper called to inform that she had transferred the money to the wrong insurance company account.

This person asked her to transfer the money back if she did not want to activate the insurance package worth 2.9 million VND. They also sent her a strange link for her to contact the "insurance service center" to cancel the insurance package.

Suspicious, Ms. Dung contacted the bank and was confirmed that this was a familiar scam.

Similarly, Ms. Huyen Tran (Binh Thanh district) also fell into the trap when she received a call from a shipper informing her of an order worth 350,000 VND.

During working hours, Ms. Huyen Tran said the shipper kept texting her, urging her to transfer money so they could deliver the goods on time. Thinking it was a familiar order, she quickly transferred the money. Just a few minutes later, the shipper called again, asking her to access the link to get support for a refund because the money had been transferred to the wrong account.

Suspicious, she looked up on the e-commerce platform but found no orders. She contacted the shipper again, but her phone number was blocked and she could not be contacted. The money that had been transferred could not be retrieved.

"The scary thing is that they know the name, address, order amount very well and speak extremely professionally. I don't understand what they are saying. personal information "Where did this come from?" - Ms. Tran worried.

However, not everyone is alert to the above multi-layered scams. If you follow them, of course you will lose money.

Delivery businesses are also impersonated.

Not only consumers, shipping businesses also become targets of impersonation in this trick.

Speaking with Tuoi Tre, a representative of an express delivery company said they have received many complaints from customers about being scammed by people disguised as delivery staff.

"These fake shippers know the customer's name, address, phone number, and even the value of the order. Although the source of the information leak has not been determined, this is causing great danger, causing customers to be deceived and businesses to lose reputation" - this person shared.

According to the business, the common trick of these subjects is to call and pretend to be a shipper, notify that there is an order to be delivered and ask the customer to pay in advance via bank transfer.

After the money is sent, the impersonator claims to have mistaken the account number, usually a membership account or service package, and asks the customer to access a fake link to get a refund.

When victims enter information into these links, bank account immediately seized.

Experts assess the popularity of online shopping is increasing the risk of personal information leakage.

From name, address, phone number to order value, this information can be exploited through security holes on e-commerce platforms, shipping units or even the seller himself.

Many people have shared on online shopping groups, warning others to be cautious when receiving calls asking for money transfers or providing personal information. If the shipper sends, consider carefully before clicking on strange links and be wary of phone numbers claiming to be support centers.

When personal information is leaked, it can lead to serious consequences, including loss of money in your bank account.
