Three vehicles in the departure ceremony carrying dozens of tons of Son La plums departed from Moc Chau town (Son La) to distribution centers in the three regions of the North - Central - South to bring plums to supermarkets. Mr. Vo Tran Ngoc - Sales Director of Saigon Co.op - said that with more than 800 points of sale, covering all market segments, it will be an advantage for Son La plum products to reach consumers nationwide with fresh quality and the "most stable" price. Ready to put specialties on shelves Sharing with Tuoi Tre, Mr. Ngoc said that this program is not simply a business activity but also has practical significance, a great connection between Ho Chi Minh City and Son La province to share long-term with the "hardworking" farmers of the province. "Two months ago, Saigon Co.op coordinated with the Trade Promotion Center of Son La province and famous plum growing areas in Moc Chau and Yen Chau district to prepare the products. Accordingly, the parties signed a consumption commitment to ensure stable supply and the best price for consumers. Up to now, all preparations have been completed, from means of transportation, warehouses, logistics to distribution of goods, ready to welcome the first shipments of plums to the shelves" - Mr. Ngoc said. As an agricultural product, preservation is very important. Accordingly, after being harvested by gardeners, plums will be classified, canned, preserved and put into insulated vehicles or specialized vehicles. This is to ensure that the products from harvest to distribution centers, put on shelves and to consumers are always at the right temperature to keep the freshest and most delicious. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La province - shared that if in the past farmers produced in a small scale, harvesting as much as they sold to the market, now, the change in production thinking associated with brand building has created a big change in the value of plums. "We never thought of creating a brand for the product, never thought that plums could be sold for 150,000 VND/kg" - Mr. Cong expressed. According to him, Son La plums have been grown for many years, typically in Moc Chau and Yen Chau areas with an area of 12,400 hectares, with an average output of 75,000 - 78,000 tons, with an outstanding year of 100,000 tons. With the process of "lowering branches to create canopy", the most delicious plums have been produced, grown with clean, organic production processes according to VietGap and GlobalGap. Expressing pride in the Son La plum fruit with a completely different "taste", Mr. Cong wishes to bring Son La plum fruit to the whole country with higher value through promoting trade promotion activities, cooperating with distributors and supermarket systems nationwide. Thanks to the product's superior quality, the selling price at the garden at the beginning of the season was up to 130,000 VND/kg, and now it is about 80,000 - 100,000 VND/kg (20 fruits/kg). "Son La plum has been grown for many years, especially in Moc Chau and Yen Chau areas with an area of 12,400 hectares, with an average output of 75,000 - 78,000 tons, with an outstanding year of 100,000 tons. With the "lowering branches to create canopy" campaign, the most delicious plums have been grown with clean, organic production processes according to VietGap and GlobalGap". Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong (Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Son La Province). Linking farmers and distributors Mr. Cong said that although the province still faces many difficulties, Son La is still willing to devote resources to implementing activities to promote product consumption and build agricultural product brands both domestically and internationally. Plum products and many other Son La agricultural products have been introduced at agricultural fairs in Milan (Italy) and Nanning (China). Promoting and introducing agricultural products has helped stimulate product consumption, evaluate brands, trace origins and better organize production, forming a production chain from farmers, businesses and cooperatives. In fact, the cooperation between the distribution system and local authorities to support farmers in increasing product value and building agricultural product brands has brought great significance. Mr. Tran Xuan Van - Director of Moc Chau Clean Agricultural Products Cooperative (Son La) - shared that this year we sell to modern distribution systems, clean food stores with stable output. The price that farmers sell is also much better than the market channel by about 30%, more stable and not forced to sell to traders. "In particular, we receive great support from local authorities and distributors in applying clean production processes, sending samples to buyers for product inspection and testing, harvesting and classifying according to standards. This is different from before when harvesting was simple, now we have to classify the products but the value is higher, we do not wait for traders to buy but have regular orders" - Mr. Van said. Mr. Vo Tran Ngoc also said that after this event, Saigon Co.op has a plan to work with the local provincial government and departments to survey and select a number of cooperatives to sign contracts to purchase growing areas, associated with capital support for farmers. This is to ensure that products are produced according to standards, while ensuring the best prices for consumers. Agreeing, Vice Chairman of Son La province Nguyen Thanh Cong also affirmed that he will proactively support and connect manufacturers and distributors to get contracts with greater value. From there, build a brand of Son La agricultural products that are always ready to meet standards in large-scale production and trade of goods, linking production with deep processing towards green, fast and sustainable economic development, increasing income for farmers.

During this time, plums will be sold at the most preferential prices and Co.opmart supermarket systems will display products, invite consumers to try Son La's specialty products along with many attractive promotions. It is expected that in the first week after the departure ceremony, the consumption output will be about 100 - 200 tons and this year's plum crop will strive to consume 1,000 tons. The product introduction program will also be organized by Saigon Co.op in conjunction with the People's Committee of Son La province in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi at the Co.opmart supermarket system.
