Along with the application of scientific and technological advances in agricultural production, the preservation and processing of agricultural products are also being focused on by enterprises, cooperatives and production households in Moc Chau town, contributing to improving the value and quality of products.

Quyet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative introduces dried fruit products.

Visit the dried fruit processing workshop of Quyet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, Khi Tuong residential group, Thao Nguyen ward. The factory area is invested in construction on a large scale, with a modern processing line system. Currently, the Cooperative has 6 OCOP products, including 4 4-star products (dried plum, dried banana, dried persimmon, dried mango); 2 3-star products (dried papaya, passion fruit juice), helping Cooperative members and farmers feel secure in sticking with local specialty crops.

Taking us to visit the processing factory, Mr. Pham Van Quyet, Director of Quyet Thanh Agricultural Cooperative, shared: To solve the pressure of consuming fresh fruits in the main season, in 2020, the Cooperative invested in a system of processing and drying lines for all kinds of fruits, with a capacity of 1.2 tons of fresh fruits/day, helping to reduce costs and loss rates during transportation, reduce intermediaries and not depend on the season, the products after processing have higher quality and value, contributing to increasing income for the members of the Cooperative.

With the desire to bring customers the enjoyment of fresh agricultural products, Chau Moc Agricultural Tourism Service Business Cooperative, Residential Group 2, Moc Son Ward has invested in a cold storage system of more than 100 m² and a cold dryer system, a 200-liter industrial stir-fry pot. Every year, the Cooperative purchases about 200 tons of fresh fruits of all kinds for households in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Trung, a member of Chau Moc Agricultural Tourism Service Business Cooperative, said: Fruits processed by the freeze-drying method will retain their color, freshness and nutrition, and are favored by consumers. In addition, the Cooperative has also successfully implemented a project to preserve fresh plums using specialized membrane technology, helping to extend the preservation time of fresh plums to 3 months, reducing the pressure on main-season consumption and increasing the value of the product.

Moc Chau currently has over 11,000 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds, with an output of over 55,000 tons of fruit per year. To extend the preservation time of agricultural products, the district has promoted and mobilized enterprises, cooperatives, and production establishments to apply science and technology in production, preservation, and processing; restructured the system of production organization, purchasing, processing, and product consumption. Encouraged linkage and cooperation in production associated with deep processing, building and promoting brands of high-tech agricultural products; invested in upgrading modern machinery lines associated with concentrated high-quality raw material areas. Promoted trade promotion activities, advertising, introducing, and connecting consumption and export of agricultural products.

Mr. Sa Van Thuong, Deputy Head of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Moc Chau town, said: The town has 38 facilities for preliminary processing and processing of tea, fruits, and milk; 9 facilities using vacuum packaging technology for agricultural products; 19 facilities investing in cold storage for preserving agricultural products, with a total area of ​​over 2,600 m², capacity of over 2,500 tons. Thanks to that, Moc Chau's processed agricultural products are increasingly diverse, rich in design, high quality, with 32 products meeting OCOP standards; of which, 18 products have achieved 4 stars, 14 products have achieved 3 stars; the value of processed products has been significantly increased, well received by consumers...

Promoting the potential and strengths of the locality, Moc Chau town continues to effectively implement policies to support the application of technology in agricultural production and processing. Mobilizing enterprises, cooperatives, and production facilities to invest in upgrading modern machinery lines, expanding production, creating quality products, and enhancing the competitiveness of local agricultural products in the market.
