Malaysia is planning to build its first artificial intelligence (AI) container port to adapt to changes in the global supply chain, according to Nikkei Asia.
With an estimated value of US$425 million, the new port will be built on an area of about 809,300 square meters in Port Dickson city, Negeri Sembilan state, along the west coast of the Malay peninsula facing the Strait of Malacca, which is one of the busiest sea routes in the world.
The AI system will analyze traffic data, schedule ship movements, monitor maritime activities around ports and manage logistics automatically.
The project is a joint venture between local property developer Tanco Holdings, through its subsidiary Midports Holdings, and marine engineering company CCCC Dredging Co., a subsidiary of China Communications Construction Group.
