(Dan Tri) - After 2 weeks of release, Tran Thanh's film "Mai" achieved impressive results, setting a record as the first Vietnamese film with the highest revenue of all time in North America and Europe.
On April 5, Tran Thanh shared information about Mai's revenue in the international market. After 2 weeks of showing in North America and Europe, the film earned 2 million USD (about 50 billion VND). Specifically, in North America, the film earned 1.66 million USD in revenue and in Europe it was 341,000 USD. The above revenue made Mai the highest-grossing Vietnamese film of all time in two continents. "Another new record for Vietnamese films shown overseas. Thank you for loving Mai ," Tran Thanh shared.

Mr. Thien A Pham, representative of 3388 Films, shared on Deadline : "Up to now, 2 million USD in revenue for Mai at the international box office is a completely game-changing achievement. 3 years ago, 1 million USD for a Vietnamese film in the US was unprecedented. This year, it is 2 million USD in North America and Europe - an almost unimaginable achievement".

According to data from Box Office Mojo (a website specializing in tracking international box office revenue), Mai 's global revenue is currently nearly 23 million USD. In 2021, Tran Thanh's film Bo Gia also set an impressive record internationally. At that time, the work held the record for the highest-grossing Vietnamese film overseas with 1.3 million USD after 8 weeks of showing in North America.
The film Mai is a comedy and psychological film, telling the story of Duong (Tuan Tran) - a playboy who cannot remember the names of the girls he has dated. Duong's life changes when he develops feelings for Mai (Phuong Anh Dao) - a massage therapist who is often judged by many people around him. On March 22, Tran Thanh and distributor CJ HK Entertainment announced the total revenue of the film Mai in the Vietnamese market. After 41 days of release from February 10 (the first day of the Lunar New Year), the film reached 520 billion VND, with 6.5 million tickets sold. Mai became the highest-grossing film in the history of the Vietnamese box office.
