Nearly 3 years ago, in August 2021, the Department of Home Affairs of Dak Lak province sent a document to the People's Committee of Buon Don district regarding the time and duration of calculating seniority allowances for teachers.

The above document states: "In cases where the contract is within the staffing quota but has not been recruited, the teacher's seniority allowance will not be paid."

Due to a lack of understanding of the above content, Buon Don district has delayed the payment of seniority allowances to hundreds of teachers in the area.

Mr. T., a teacher at a secondary school in Buon Don district, shared with VietNamNet: He and his wife were recruited in 2012. In 2021, he and his wife decided to enjoy seniority but it was later revoked.

According to Mr. T., teachers who have been officially employed for 5 years or more will receive seniority and it will increase every year. Mr. T. and his wife have been delayed in receiving their seniority allowance for nearly 8 years. This has affected the rights of Mr. T. and his wife as well as many other teachers in the area.

It is known that in addition to Mr. T. and his wife, many teachers in the district also expressed concern because they have not received seniority allowance.

Will pay in the near future

On July 11, Mr. Pham Trung Nghia, Chairman of the People's Committee of Buon Don District confirmed to VietNamNet that the locality has more than 200 teachers who have not received seniority allowances according to regulations. Currently, the People's Committee of the district has reviewed and will pay in the near future.

According to Mr. Nghia, regarding the payment of seniority allowance, the District People's Committee has asked the Department of Home Affairs of Dak Lak province and the Ministry of Education and Training for guidance on how to resolve the issue.

"After receiving a response from the competent authorities, we have sent a document to the relevant departments to review the beneficiaries. We will soon meet and resolve each specific case," said Mr. Nghia.

A leader of the Department of Education and Training of Buon Don district said: The reason for the above incident was that the Department of Internal Affairs of the district did not clearly understand the document of the superior agency, thereby advising the District People's Committee, leading to delays in payment to teachers who were eligible for allowances.

The leader of the Department of Education and Training added that the above incident affected the psychology and teaching work because the seniority allowance is very important to teachers in the area.
