High salary is not the most important factor for Gen Z
Working as a marketing staff for a real estate company in Ho Chi Minh City, Hoang Minh (22 years old, living in District 4) said that the working environment at the company is good, colleagues are friendly and sociable, high salary, stable bonus, and full benefits.
Recalling the time working at the old company with toxic colleagues, chaotic work, and constant overtime, Minh feels lucky to have decided to "leave".
"The only plus point at my old company was the high salary for a fresh graduate. However, the frequent salary delays gradually discouraged me," Minh said.
Working at the new company with the same position as the old company but with a lower salary, Minh is satisfied with this choice. Minh said that although working in a different field, this is his favorite job. Real estate is also a very good field and worth pursuing.
Working remotely, Bao Tran (23 years old, living in Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City) does not have to face a toxic working environment. However, she feels isolated because she cannot connect with her colleagues, nor does she receive much attention from her superiors due to the geographical distance.
"I realized that connecting and maintaining relationships with colleagues in the company is very important. Therefore, I decided to submit my resignation and find a new job in the city for convenience in commuting," Tran confided.
Bao Tran has now started working at a foreign company in Ho Chi Minh City. She commented that her new workplace has an open, fun environment and always receives full support from her seniors.
At the Junior level (young employee, less seniority), Tran feels that her current salary is not much but still enough to cover her living expenses. "I prioritize a job with a dedicated boss and enthusiastic colleagues over the salary and benefits offered by the company," Bao Tran expressed.

Desire to be recognized
Meanwhile, many young people choose to find new jobs because they want to be recognized and have the opportunity to advance. Như Ánh Trúc (25 years old, living in Thu Duc City) just quit her job at her old company in June to look for a new, more suitable opportunity.
Anh Truc used to work as a social content (social media marketing content) for a company in Bien Hoa (Dong Nai), with an income of 18 million VND/month. However, Truc said that to get that income, she had to manage all of the company's social media platforms by herself.
During peak season, Truc has to work through the night to meet deadlines. Sometimes the workload is too much, staying up all night and still being scolded by other departments makes Truc exhausted both physically and mentally.
Above all, Truc realized that her current position at her old company was too safe. No matter how many years she worked, she could not advance and receive recognition from everyone.
Truc's salary after moving to the new company has decreased significantly, from 18 million VND/month to 12 million VND/month. However, to her, that is not too important because this is the probationary salary at a multinational corporation. In the future, this salary can increase and her path to promotion will also be more open.
"The important thing is that the new job doesn't make me stressed anymore because I have to keep up with the times," Truc said contentedly.
