Late on April 10, U17 Vietnam was held to a regrettable 1-1 draw by U17 UAE in the final match of Group B of the 2025 AFC U17 Championship.

Coach Cristiano Roland's team took the lead in the 22nd minute thanks to Duy Khang's goal. The "little warriors of the yellow star" were only a few minutes away from a ticket to the next round before U17 UAE scored in the 87th minute.

However, the achievements of the team led by coach Roland still received recognition and praise from countries in the region. The Indonesian press paid special attention to the U17 Vietnam team.

Bola newspaper wrote: "U17 Vietnam almost followed us to the World Cup. Their efforts are worth noting.

Although they did not qualify for the World Cup, their performance in this year's tournament was still excellent. The young men should be proud of their journey."

Meanwhile, CNN Indonesia also said that U17 Vietnam played excellently but was unlucky to get a ticket to the World Cup. The article wrote: "They drew with Japan, Australia and UAE but sadly finished at the bottom of the group and were eliminated painfully."

Indonesia U17 is having a successful tournament, finishing the group stage with the top position in Group C, including strong opponents such as Korea, Yemen and Afghanistan. They are also the only representative of Southeast Asia in the U17 World Cup arena.
