Introducing the famous person Le Quy Don and the cultural and tourism potential of Thai Binh in France

Thai Binh leaders believe that the event promoting tourism and culture of the province in Paris on the night of April 10 (local time) will attract people to "a peaceful land, sublimating emotions with love for the land and people."

On the night of April 10 (local time), at the 221st session of the Executive Board of the United NationsEducational , Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held in Paris, member countries adopted a Decision recommending the General Assembly approve that UNESCO will join Vietnam in honoring and celebrating the 300th anniversary of the birth of Le Quy Don (1726-2026) in 2026.

This is good news not only for Thai Binh province, but for the entire Vietnamese people.

This decision is even more meaningful when on the same day, the delegation of Thai Binh province, in coordination with the Vietnamese Embassy in France, the Vietnamese Delegation to UNESCO and the Vietnamese Cultural Center in France, successfully organized the Conference "Introducing the cultural celebrity Le Quy Don and promoting culture and tourism in Thai Binh province."

The conference is part of efforts to mobilize UNESCO to coordinate the celebration of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the famous Le Quy Don (1726-2026).

Sharing with the Vietnam News Agency reporter in France, Dr. Phan Manh Duong, a researcher on Le Quy Don, said that in 2024, the Vietnam Institute of Culture and Arts Studies and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Binh province prepared a dossier on Cultural Celebrity Le Quy Don to propose UNESCO to co-organize the 300th anniversary of his birth in 2026.

After many preparations, the dossier has been sent to UNESCO with the hope that UNESCO will join Vietnam and Thai Binh province to organize a conference to honor cultural celebrity Le Quy Don at UNESCO headquarters next year.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Thai Binh province Pham Van Nghiem introduced the cultural celebrity whose "name and influence are famous throughout Vietnam and beyond the region."

With his intelligence and profound knowledge, he left to posterity about 40 books covering most of the contemporary knowledge such as: History, geography, poetry, many research works, interpretations, annotations, lectures on classics, ancient books and many Nom poetry works.

On this occasion, the Vice Chairman of Thai Binh province expressed his hope that overseas Vietnamese in France will promote more strongly the Vietnamese cultural celebrity Le Quy Don.

Appreciating his talent and working together to glorify Le Quy Don, Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang also called on international friends and the Vietnamese community in France to become a bridge to widely introduce the great man to the public, and at the same time support Vietnam and UNESCO to jointly celebrate the 300th anniversary of his birth in 2026.

Responding to the Ambassador's proposal, Mr. Nguyen Hai Nam, President of the France-Vietnam Friendship Association, proposed the idea of ​​introducing the Vietnamese cultural celebrity Le Quy Don to high schools in France, building links between these schools and high schools in Vietnam named after Le Quy Don.

In addition, he also proposed establishing cooperation between Thai Binh province and French universities to conduct research theses on Le Quy Don, contributing to promoting the cultural celebrity of his hometown Thai Binh in France.

Expressing his support for the organization of a ceremony to honor Le Quy Don at UNESCO headquarters on the occasion of his 300th birthday in 2026, Mr. Nguyen Phan Bao Thuy, an overseas Vietnamese in France and a former student of Le Quy Don School in Da Nang, said that this will bring honor and pride to the people of Thai Binh in particular and the Vietnamese people in general, as well as to the Vietnamese students who have studied and are studying at schools named after Le Quy Don.

In addition to introducing famous people of the province, the conference is also an opportunity to promote the image, culture and local tourism potential.

According to Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Thai Binh province has a dense system of cultural heritage and many works with unique, long-standing architectural values, with historical, cultural, scientific and educational significance.

Cheo melodies and traditional festivals bring unique intangible cultural values ​​of Thai Binh containing the spiritual life of local people in particular and Vietnamese people in general.

Besides, there are also natural conditions, beautiful beaches, and traditional craft villages that are always attractive destinations for domestic and foreign tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan shared: "Through the conference to promote and promote culture and tourism, Thai Binh province also hopes to invite businesses and individuals to come to Thai Binh, promote and introduce Thai Binh culture, help international friends and French people know and understand Thai Binh more."

Not only promoting cultural tourism, the conference also aims to seek cooperation opportunities in healthcare, education, training, human resource exchange, as well as learn more about cooperation opportunities with France in developing high-tech agriculture, new energy, renewable energy, and climate change adaptation.

Vice Chairman of Thai Binh province Pham Van Nghiem pledged to create the most favorable conditions for organizing cultural and tourism exchange events with French partners and economic cooperation, increasing import and export of goods between the two sides in the coming time.

He believes that "through the documents and images introduced at the conference, readers will know more about Thai Binh, attract people to this peaceful land, sublimate their emotions with the love of land, people and rice plants and together build Thai Binh as well as the homeland of Vietnam to become more and more beautiful."./.
