Lung Cu: Border patrol in the flower season

Lung Cu Border Post (under the Border Guard of Ha Giang province) - the northernmost point of the country - is located in Ma Le commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province. This is a unit with a long history, strong spirit, and absolute loyalty to the country and the people.

Steady steps on the border patrol.

Lung Cu Border Guard Station is assigned the important task of protecting more than 26km of border adjacent to Dong Can town, Ma Ly Pho district and Mong Uong town, Phu Ninh district, Yunnan province (China). The area under the management of the unit includes 2 border communes Ma Le and Lung Cu, with 21 villages, of which 13 are border villages; especially 26 landmarks and Lung Cu National Flagpole - the sacred border landmark of the Fatherland. The borders where the Border Guard Station is stationed and managed are mostly inhabited by the H'Mong ethnic group, whose lives are still difficult with a high rate of poor and near-poor households.

Border guards are on high alert and vigilant.

Since its establishment (October 1978) until now, throughout the process of building and growing, generations of cadres and soldiers of the unit have always promoted the glorious tradition to be ready to face countless difficulties and hardships. The unit is determined in its mission of fighting to protect sacred territorial sovereignty, while maintaining political stability, security and order at the border; maintaining solidarity and friendship with the people of neighboring countries, contributing to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland.

In 2024, on the occasion of the 65th Anniversary of Border Guard Tradition Day (March 3, 1959 - March 3, 2024); 35th People's Border Guard Day (March 3, 1989 - March 3, 2024), Lung Cu Border Post was honored to receive the Third Class Fatherland Protection Medal from the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

In the middle of the border flower season.

In spring, when mist and clouds linger over the mountains and forests, the ground seems to warm up, the sun adds more brilliant colors to the flowers, that is when the peach and pear trees in Lung Cu are most vibrant. Lung Cu in spring shows us a beautiful picture of nature.

Pear blossoms show off their pure beauty.

Delicate mist clings to each towering mountain peak, each pure white pear blossom petal falls to the ground. Somewhere, on the hair, on the shoulders of the early firewood gatherers, bright pink peach blossoms are also scattered. The scene is both immense and gentle, poignant.

The poetic beauty of mountains and forests.

In the valley, undulating and scattered are the villages of the ethnic groups: H'mong, Lo Lo, Tay... also seem to be wearing new spring clothes. Lung Cu is located in the northernmost geographical position, the climate and geography are harsh, but the strong vitality of the people shines even more strongly.

People's lives are still difficult but they always have faith thanks to the border guards.

Lung Cu has rugged terrain with winding, tortuous roads, making it difficult to move and control, so on the border patrol journey, border guards have to face many complex challenges, with the spirit of never retreating.

Sacred milestone of the Fatherland.

With the mission of protecting territorial sovereignty, the border guards of Lung Cu Border Post always maintain high vigilance, not allowing any unfortunate situations to occur.

In August 2024, Lung Cu Border Guard Station prosecuted a case of organizing third-country nationals to flee abroad; rescuing 3 citizens, including 2 Myanmar citizens.

Border patrol duties are very closely and strictly ensured.

Over the past 5 years, the unit has coordinated with functional forces to organize 434 border patrols and management; 12 bilateral patrols; well organized the inspection and control of people and vehicles entering and exiting the border area, registered entry and exit of 1,904 Vietnamese people and 45 Chinese people; effectively implemented the fight against drugs and crimes; closely coordinated with agencies, units and functional forces in the area to strictly manage subjects and areas, promptly detect cases and handle them in accordance with the law...

The Border Guard Station is also a place to connect, help, and support when there are difficulties. Border guards often help people with medical, educational, and production issues, and always set an example in preserving and promoting national cultural identity.

Many meaningful programs have been well implemented by the Station, such as: "Border Guards build new rural areas"; "Border Guards join hands for the poor - leaving no one behind", "Helping children go to school", "Adopted children of Border Guard Station", "Border Spring - Warming the hearts of the villagers", "Accompanying women in the border areas"...

In the middle of the vast mountains and forests.

In the border area, the solidarity between compatriots and soldiers has become a strong and warm bond. At the end of 2024, Lung Cu Border Guard Station coordinated with the Party Committee, People's Committee, People's Council, and Fatherland Front of Lung Cu commune to start a program to build solid houses for 4 poor households in Lung Cu commune, bringing great hope and confidence to our compatriots at the border of the Fatherland.

With strong determination and warm affection, Lung Cu Border Guard Station contributed in all aspects, especially mobilizing the efforts of officers and soldiers to build new homes for the people. This was an emotional and practical action, lighting up solidarity and mutual love.

Border patrol is a particularly important task that also arouses in the hearts of soldiers sacred feelings and deep pride.

Compared to the harsh winter, spring on the patrol route is much warmer and more poetic. In winter, the temperature in the far north can drop below 0 degrees Celsius, there is often fog, and white snow, making it difficult to move and observe.

Flowers still bloom beside high mountains and deep abysses.

Overcoming all challenges, the border guards always uphold the spirit and aspiration to protect the peace of the people and the sovereignty of the Fatherland. Every step on the patrol is a silent sacrifice in the deep pride of each soldier.
