Rice prices fall sharply

In many localities today, rice supply is slow and new rice transactions continue to be slow. In Dong Thap, winter-spring rice transactions are slow, farmers offer rice cut before Tet at stable prices but few people buy. In Soc Trang, early winter-spring rice in some areas is starting to appear, farmers are offering to sell quite slowly, rice prices are little fluctuating. In Kien Giang, transactions are slow, traders are asking to buy for businesses, rice prices are stable; rice areas in Tan Hiep and Rong Rieng are in the flowering and ripening stage.

Regarding rice, according to the update from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of An Giang province, currently OM 380 raw rice has decreased by 100 VND, fluctuating at 7,500 - 7,600 VND/kg; OM 380 finished rice has fluctuated at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg; IR 504 raw rice has decreased by 200 VND, fluctuating at 7,600 - 7,800 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice has fluctuated at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg;

As for by-products, the price of by-products ranges from 5,700 - 7,200 VND/kg. Currently, the price of fragrant rice bran ranges from 7,000 - 7,200 VND/kg; the price of dry bran ranges from 5,700 - 5,800 VND/kg.

Recorded in localities today, the quantity is low, buying and selling transactions are slow. In Lap Vo - Vam Cong (Dong Thap), the quantity is low, buying and selling transactions are slow, rice prices are stable, some warehouses are preparing for Tet holiday. In Sa Dec (Dong Thap), the quantity is sporadically arriving, raw rice prices of all kinds are not stable, some large warehouses are closing early for Tet this morning.

Sa Dec market canal (Dong Thap), the amount of incoming rice is low, all kinds of rice are relatively stable, many warehouses have stopped buying. In An Cu (Cai Be, Tien Giang), rice is available sporadically, prices are down, warehouses are buying slowly, there is little good rice, most of the rice is weak.

At retail markets, rice prices are stable compared to yesterday. Currently, regular rice fluctuates at 15,000 - 17,000 VND/kg; Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of 28,000 VND/kg; Nang Hoa rice 21,500 VND/kg; long-grain fragrant rice 20,000 - 22,000 VND/kg; Huong Lai rice 22,000 VND/kg; Jasmine fragrant rice fluctuates at 18,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; common white rice 17,500 VND/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice 21,000 VND/kg; Soc regular rice fluctuates at 18,000 VND/kg; Soc Thai rice is 21,000 VND/kg; Japanese rice is 22,500 VND/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices today remained unchanged from yesterday. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), currently 5% standard rice is at 419 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 395 USD/ton; 100% broken rice is at 326 USD/ton.
