Special SAT class on the journey back of Olympia Champion

Mr. Phan Minh Duc, Olympia Champion 2010, understands the value of knowledge and above all, the power of aspiration. For him, the dream of studying and experiencing in prestigious international environments is not only for his own success, but more importantly, to return to contribute to his homeland. "I am Vietnamese" - that saying has become a deep source of motivation, urging Mr. Duc to constantly cherish projects to help Vietnamese students reach further and higher. It is not only the return of a child living far away from home, but also a return with a great dream - to contribute to the transformation of the country, to sow the seeds of knowledge and faith in the young generation.

Since his years of studying at Swinburne University (Australia), Mr. Duc has continuously acquired knowledge in an international environment, nurturing the desire to return to Vietnam to spread positive energy, confidence and a thirst for discovery to the generation of Vietnamese students through the field of education. Future Me Center was born from that dream - a place that not only helps students review English certificates such as SAT, IELTS but also equips young people with knowledge and skills to confidently step out into the world and conquer bigger goals.

With a SAT score of 1570/1600 and an IELTS certificate of 8.5, Mr. Duc returned to Vietnam to begin realizing his dream of creating community open classes for students across the country. In June 2024, Future Me collaborated with Khan Academy Vietnam to conduct a free online SAT open class "15 hours to build a SAT foundation". This class is not only a place to impart knowledge but also a bridge, creating a quality learning environment for students. Taking advantage of the completely free learning materials on the Khan Academy platform combined with his teaching experience, Mr. Duc and his team have had classes that attracted up to 500 students from all over the provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Nghe An, Hue, Bac Giang, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, ...

After half a year, Mr. Duc and Future Me’s SAT class community has become a strong “home of knowledge”, where nearly 1,000 students study, develop and prepare together for the SAT exam – the door leading to prestigious universities around the world. But above all, Mr. Duc and the teaching staff always believe that each student at Future Me is a potential seed, needing to be cared for, guided and inspired.

By using the Khan Academy platform – an official College Board partner combined with self-developed curriculum, Future Me has become a pioneer in applying modern technology to SAT classes, helping students have access to the latest preparation methods and materials. Using an online preparation platform helps ensure that students have access to updated materials and preparation methods, thereby confidently and easily adapting to the Digital SAT – the SAT on the computer.

One of the outstanding advantages of Khan Academy is its ability to support students in cultivating and strengthening self-study skills. Mr. Duc emphasized: “For each exercise, students can search for instructional videos and corresponding basic knowledge introductions. This helps them not only to pursue achievements in completing many exercises but also to focus on strengthening knowledge” . In particular, this platform is very useful for SAT test preparation, when students can adjust their learning speed and learn more deeply about topics they are weak at. The combination of modern teaching methods and quality learning resources has created an optimal learning environment where students can maximize their potential.

Witnessing the journey of reaping the “sweet fruit” through the relentless efforts of the students is one of the most important milestones in Mr. Duc’s “going to return” journey. “I am very impressed with the time that the students have spent studying for the SAT. Some students have spent more than 5,000 hours studying and re-studying. In addition, some parents have shared that just by taking Mr. Duc’s free class, their students’ mock test scores have increased from 1100 to 1300,” Mr. Duc shared.

With the support of Khan Academy Vietnam, along with the constant creativity in teaching methods of Mr. Duc and Future Me, we believe that this is not just an SAT preparation class, but also a place to entrust faith, aspiration and confidence to the young generation of Vietnam in the context of international integration.
