After 7 days of competition, the champion of the WSDC Vietnam 2023 competition has officially been revealed: The US team won the championship, the ranking of the Vietnamese team caused a big surprise.

With 65 teams representing 65 countries participating in the competition, going through 8 group stages, pre-quarterfinals, quarterfinals, semi-finals and finally the final... the world's largest debate competition WSDC 2023 taking place in Vietnam has officially ended with a successful and memorable season.
This year’s tournament takes place from July 20 to 27. Teams will compete in dramatic rounds with a variety of topics, in 8 group stages. The teams with the best results will compete in the knockout rounds, including: Pre-quarterfinals, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finals.
After a 7-day journey with fierce matches between equally talented contestants, the closing ceremony and the final match of WSDC Vietnam 2023 took place live at VinUni University Hall on July 27. Finally, the Vietnam WSDC 2023 Champion was also named the US team with a convincing result. Along with that, the best debaters of the tournament were also named and honored under the thunderous applause of everyone.
In particular, although debate in Vietnam is still young, this year the host team had an excellent performance when entering the Top 16 best teams of the tournament. The whole team, with 5 official members: Do Thu Mai, Luu Chi Anh, Phan The Viet, Hua Bao Chau, Nguyen Dieu Anh and 1 reserve member Pham Tran Bao Chau, has undergone 10 months of continuous training with a lot of knowledge and all skills to be able to confidently enter the competition with the highest fighting spirit.
This result not only shows pride in the team, but also proves the potential and talent of young debaters who are making steady progress on their journey to conquer new heights.
"Debate is not just a 1-hour match where each person speaks for 8 minutes, but it also has many meanings. It is a journey of each person's story. And I feel extremely happy and proud to be a member of the Vietnam national debate team, representing the country to compete with international teams. Especially, this time it is held in Vietnam, so my friends and I are even more determined to achieve the highest results", a member of the Vietnam debate team shared.
After intense matches, the world's largest debate competition held for the first time in Vietnam officially ended, marking an important milestone for the Vietnamese and international debate community.
Head of the Organizing Committee, Mr. Loke Wing Fatt shared at the Closing Ceremony: "Thank you to all the young Vietnamese people who brought great energy, especially to the "old people" like me, because the heart of the competition is the heartbeat of all of you. WSDC Vietnam 2023 is not only a competition, but also a forum for knowledge exchange, connecting debate enthusiasts around the world. This is also a great motivation for large-scale tournaments to be held in the future.
