On April 17, the Tax Department announced that 148 foreign suppliers had registered and paid taxes through the Foreign Supplier Portal with an estimated revenue of VND2,832 billion in the first quarter. In addition, more than 66,000 households and individuals doing e-commerce business have registered and fulfilled their tax obligations on the e-commerce tax declaration and payment portal with nearly VND548 billion.
The representative of the Tax sector said that it has closely followed the direction of the Government and the Ministry of Finance and proactively implemented synchronous solutions to stabilize the organizational apparatus, reform administration, and modernize tax management. This has contributed to ensuring State budget revenue and creating favorable conditions for people and businesses to develop.
Specifically, in the first three months of the year, the entire sector collected VND668,313 billion in state budget revenue, equal to 38.9% of the estimate and up 36.3% over the same period last year. Of which, 13/19 revenue items reached over 30% of the estimate and 16/19 revenue items increased compared to the same period in 2024.
Nationwide, 40/63 localities have achieved good revenue with over 30% of the estimate and 8/63 localities achieved less than 26% of the estimate. Notably, 56/63 localities have increased revenue compared to the same period in 2024, however, 7/63 localities have lower revenue than the same period (Bac Kan, Quang Ngai, An Giang, Tra Vinh, Ha Giang, Long An, Thanh Hoa). At the branch level, 17/20 regional tax branches have achieved good progress of over 30% compared to the estimate and 19/20 regional tax branches have increased revenue compared to the same period.
Regarding the work of preventing tax loss and tax fraud, the Tax Authority said it is implementing topics on enhancing the effectiveness of personal income tax management (especially for taxpayers with very high incomes), topics on imported agricultural products, topics on improving the effectiveness of management and preventing tax loss in the BOT transport sector, topics on preventing tax loss for business households, and topics on enhancing the effectiveness of tax management for enterprises operating in real estate business.
To complete the assigned budget collection targets, in April and the second quarter, the Tax Authority will closely monitor domestic and international economic fluctuations, especially the US tariff policies, to assess the impact on budget collection. The sector continues to review revenue sources, through classifying taxpayers by industry, location and group of subjects to organize effective tax collection. In addition, the Tax Authority advocates supporting voluntary compliance, focusing on helping businesses and business households apply electronic invoices, thereby ensuring the accuracy and completeness of tax declaration information.
Regarding tax evasion, the sector will step up the implementation of anti-tax evasion topics, especially for activities such as transfer pricing, high-risk areas and taxpayer groups. In particular, it will continue to implement digital transformation projects, including applications to support taxpayers and tax management. To achieve the set goals, the Tax Authority said it will continue to improve and amend tax regulations in accordance with international practices, especially regulations related to global minimum tax.
In addition, the tax sector will continue to reform administrative procedures to reduce and simplify tax administrative procedures, reduce processing time and compliance costs for taxpayers. The Tax Department will strengthen the organization of training programs, improve the capacity of tax officials in the direction of training in the implementation, development and use of software and technology applications. Along with that, the sector will strengthen the propaganda of tax policies and laws to improve the understanding and awareness of tax law compliance of people and businesses./.
