On the morning of December 29, in Hanoi, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Duc Phoc attended and directed the national online conference to review the work in 2024 and deploy tasks in 2025 of the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC). The conference was connected online to connecting points in provinces and cities across the country.

According to the United Nations' 2024 E-Government Development Index (EGDI), Vietnam has risen to 71st place out of 193 countries, up 15 places compared to 2022. This is the first time Vietnam has been ranked in the very high EGDI group and has the highest ranking since it began participating in the United Nations' EGDI assessment in 2003.
In Southeast Asia, Vietnam ranked 5th out of 11 countries in e-Government, up 1 place compared to 2022. In September 2024, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) also announced the Global Cybersecurity Index 2024 (GCI), according to which, Vietnam has increased 8 places since the report published in 2021, rising to 17th out of 194 countries and territories worldwide, 4th in the Asia-Pacific region and 3rd among countries in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in the field of cybersecurity. Vietnam achieved almost perfect scores for the 5 assessment criteria of the GCI and was ranked as a "model" level 1 country (the highest level of 5 levels), a group of "exemplary" countries, and in the top 3 groups of leading countries in the world. In November 2024, the Universal Postal Union UPU announced the integrated index of postal development of Vietnam, accordingly, Vietnam Post in 2024 was ranked up from group 6 (in 2023) to group 8.
The Ministry of Information and Communications actively and proactively focuses on building and perfecting the legal environment to promote national digital transformation. Information and propaganda work, especially policy communication, continues to affirm its important role in honestly reflecting the mainstream of Vietnamese society, creating consensus, spreading positive energy, creating social trust, contributing to creating spiritual strength for Vietnam to break through and rise up, successfully implementing the digital transformation revolution, creating a solid foundation to bring our country and our people into a new era, an era of national growth.

In 2024, the total revenue of the IT&T industry is estimated to reach VND 4,243,984 billion, an increase of 13.2% compared to 2023. The contribution to the state budget is estimated to reach VND 109,478 billion, an increase of 15.1% compared to 2023. The contribution to GDP of the IT&T industry is estimated to reach VND 989,016 billion, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2023.
In 2024, the total revenue of the IT&T industry is estimated to reach 4,243,984 billion VND, an increase of 13.2% compared to 2023.
Postal service revenue is estimated at VND 71,140 billion, up 21% over the same period in 2023 and estimated to reach 100% of the 2024 plan. Total telecommunications service revenue is estimated at VND 147,000 billion, up 3.49% over 2023.
The digital economy and digital society continue to develop, with the proportion of the digital economy in GDP estimated at 18.3%, growing 20% compared to 2023.

Digital technology industry revenue is estimated to reach over 3,870,000 billion VND, an increase of 11.2% compared to 2023.
Revenue from the radio and television sector is expected to reach VND12,524 billion, up 1.7% compared to 2023 (VND12,049 billion). Revenue from the gaming industry is estimated to reach about VND12,500 billion, down slightly compared to 2023 (VND12,552 billion).
The rate of bad, toxic, and false news detected and verified on social networks that was prevented and handled strictly and promptly during the year is estimated at about 92.7%, an increase of 0.4 percentage points over the same period in 2023.
The number of pay TV subscribers in 2024 is estimated at 21.2 million, up 1% over the same period last year. Service revenue (including VAT) is estimated at approximately VND 10,500 billion, reaching the same period last year.
The number of Vietnamese user accounts regularly using Vietnamese social networks reached 110 million accounts (an increase of 5% compared to the same period in 2023)
Discussing at the conference, representatives of ministries, branches and localities analyzed and clarified the advantages, difficulties and challenges; shared experiences and pointed out new and urgent contents that the Ministry of Information and Communications needs to implement in the coming time. At the same time, they proposed practical solutions to promote the continued development of the information and communications industry.
