Lien Khuong Airport (Lam Dong) has been receiving flights from abroad and military aircraft since June 22, after officially becoming an international airport according to the decision of the Ministry of Transport.
Thus, Lien Khuong becomes the first international airport of the Central Highlands region. The remaining airports such as Pleiku and Buon Ma Thuot are still domestic airports.

Regarding infrastructure, Lien Khuong airport currently has only one passenger terminal, shared by both domestic and international passengers. The airport has arranged additional areas to serve international passengers such as customs, border police, immigration, etc.
According to the plan from now until 2030, this airport will keep the T1 passenger terminal with a capacity of 2 million passengers/year, and at the same time build a T2 passenger terminal with a capacity of about 3 million passengers/year to serve international flights.
Previously, this gateway airport of Da Lat had operated international flights since 2017, but they were all charter flights, requiring a license for each flight with more complicated procedures than regular flights.
