During the resistance war against French colonialism, the people of Ban Cong commune (Ba Thuoc) contributed a lot of human and material resources to support the front line. After 70 years, the appearance of this place has changed a lot...
The road to transport food and weapons from Ban Cong commune (Ba Thuoc) to Quan Hoa district has been invested in and built.
Ban Cong is a commune with rugged mountainous terrain, favorable for establishing a base for combat. In early 1947, the French army from Laos divided into 3 wings and advanced along the Luong River, Lo River, and Ma River into the West of Thanh Hoa. On May 7, 1947, the French army advanced and occupied La Han land, Ban Cong commune. After that, the French army organized reactionary parties, plotting to establish autonomous Muong and Thai regions to threaten the midland of Thanh Hoa and the Southwest.
Faced with this situation, Ban Cong commune built a concentrated militia platoon named Cam Ba Thuoc Army Company. This army trained day and night and was ready to fight when the French army arrived. At the same time, Ban Cong commune mobilized the youth force in the commune to join the militia and guerrillas, diligently practiced military training and actively joined the Cam Ba Thuoc Army Company.
In May 1947, the Cam Ba Thuoc Army Company coordinated with the Ban Cong militia to detonate bombs in Xoi Loi village, Ban Cong commune when the enemy from La Han post swept into Chieng Lau village, causing many French soldiers to be injured or killed. Also during this time, the people of Ban Cong commune, together with the army and people in the district and province, fought bravely, smashing the plot of the French colonialists to occupy and attack La Han post, forcing them to withdraw their troops from here. The defeat of the French army at La Han post paved the way for the liberation of Co Lung post (Ba Thuoc).
La Han Fort built by the French army is now only ruins.
From 1948 to 1953, cadres and people of Ban Cong commune focused on building resistance bases, developing guerrilla troops and, together with the main force, fighting to liberate La Han post and actively participating in the attacks to liberate Co Lung post.
Entering the Dien Bien Phu campaign, Ban Cong commune continued to contribute labor and resources with the people of Ba Thuoc district to transport 1,352 tons of food from Ba Thuoc to Hoi Xuan town (Quan Hoa).
Talking to us, Mr. Luong Van Tu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ban Cong Commune, shared: During the 9 years of resistance war against French colonialism, the people of Ban Cong were very proud to have contributed human and material resources to the struggle for national liberation. The victory of the resistance war against French colonialism, culminating in the historic Dien Bien Phu Victory, had the contribution of human and material resources from cadres, party members and the people of Ban Cong Commune. The whole commune had 116 people in the army and long-term laborers participating in the fight and transporting food and provisions to serve the frontline.
Continuing the heroic history of the resistance war against the US to save the country, the cadres and people of Ban Cong commune continue to uphold the spirit of patriotism, ready to provide human and material resources to support the front line. During the resistance war against the US to save the country, Ban Cong commune had more than 200 people enlisting in the army; 130 young volunteers serving in combat on the battlefields. Of these, 89 people heroically sacrificed, many were wounded and sick soldiers...
With its contributions in combat and many outstanding achievements, Ban Cong commune has received many noble titles, such as: Third-class Labor Medal; advanced unit; determined-to-win unit and many other awards... In particular, in 2018, the Party Committee and People of Ban Cong commune were awarded the title of Hero of the Armed Forces by the President for the People and Armed Forces of Ban Cong commune for their exceptionally outstanding achievements in the resistance war against the French colonialists.
Continuing the heroic tradition, in today's renovation process, the Party Committee, government and people of all ethnic groups in Ban Cong commune have been joining hands, unanimously, overcoming difficulties and challenges to build an increasingly developed homeland. Currently, a new life has revived right on the former enemy post.
Following the instructions of the leaders of Ban Cong commune, we visited La Han village - where the French army occupied to build La Han fort, which has now improved a lot, the material and spiritual life of the people has been improved, the dirt roads have been replaced by concrete roads. Excited about the changes in his hometown, Mr. Ha Van Dung, one of the elderly people in La Han village who has contributed a lot to the construction of the new rural area (NTM), said: "The place where I was born was the place where the French army was stationed, going through many historical events, La Han village today has changed a lot. Implementing the National Target Program on building the new rural area, the people of La Han village have contributed about 3 billion VND, 1,000 working days to build roads. Thanks to the good work of mobilizing people's strength, the village's roads have been basically concreted. Seeing the students happily going to school on the concrete roads, I feel extremely excited".
