Nguyen Trung Truc Festival connects the community

On the evening of September 28, Kien Giang solemnly held the opening ceremony of the traditional festival commemorating the 156th anniversary of the sacrifice of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc. This is a major festival in Kien Giang and has a deep connection with the community.

Mr. Nguyen Luu Trung - Vice Chairman of Kien Giang Provincial People's Committee - said that the Traditional Festival of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc is a festival of the community, of the people, demonstrating profound humanity, high socialization and deep community connection.

The festival is also an opportunity for the Party Committee, government and people of Kien Giang and people everywhere to come here to express their gratitude to Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc who sacrificed for the people and the country.

"The traditional festival of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc is imbued with humanity, passed down through many generations and originates from the admiration and gratitude of the community and people with the wish to pay tribute to his great contributions," Mr. Trung emphasized.

The traditional festival commemorating the 156th anniversary of the death of National Hero Nguyen Trung Truc (1868 - 2024) takes place from September 28 to 30 (26 to 28 of the eighth lunar month).

The festival includes activities such as: incense lighting ceremony at the stele marking the site where national hero Nguyen Trung Truc was executed by the French in 1868; traditional rituals performed at Nguyen Trung Truc communal house and incense offering ceremony.

The local festival organizes activities such as the Kien Giang Wanderlust Marathon 2024; the Vovinam competition for all ages in Kien Giang province; continuing the exhibition "Special National Monument of Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam" until September 30; the Southern amateur music space; the lantern festival to pray for national peace and prosperity, and especially activities to display and promote tourism in the Mekong Delta...

This year, the locality expects hundreds of thousands of tourists and people from everywhere to come to worship and burn incense in memory of Mr. Nguyen Trung Truc.

The locality and related units received more than 300 tons of vegetables, rice and drinks to make vegetarian dishes (vegetarian rice, banh tet, banh bao, banh xeo, bun chay, banh canh chay...) to serve free of charge to the people.
