Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan is on an official visit to Qatar from May 6-8. The Vice President has conveyed an invitation to visit Vietnam to the King and Deputy King of Qatar.
On the morning of May 7 (local time), Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan held talks with Deputy Emir of Qatar Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani.
At the talks, the two sides informed each other about the situation in each country, affirming their desire and determination to further promote the friendship and multifaceted cooperation between Vietnam and Qatar.
On that basis, the two sides agreed to continue strengthening political and diplomatic relations through increasing delegation exchanges at all levels. On this occasion, the Vice President conveyed the invitation of President Vo Van Thuong to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to visit Vietnam in 2023. The Vice President invited the Vice Emir of Qatar to visit Vietnam at a suitable time.
The two sides agreed to coordinate in organizing cultural, sports and artistic exchange events, especially on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
Regarding economic cooperation, the two countries still have much potential to promote cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, tourism... both sides agreed to coordinate in organizing investment and trade promotion and business forums in the coming time.
To create a breakthrough in trade cooperation, the Vice President suggested that Qatar create conditions for Vietnam's export products with strengths such as agricultural products, seafood, processed foods, etc. to access distribution channels and large supermarket systems in Qatar. The Vice President hoped that Qatar would share its experience and support Vietnam in building a financial center and a Halal certification center, etc. to better meet conditions and standards.
Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani affirmed that Qatar prioritizes enhancing trade, investment and agricultural cooperation with Vietnam, and hopes that the two sides will exchange experiences in areas such as energy, education and training, and agriculture.
In investment, the two sides identified this as a priority area of cooperation in the coming time, agreeing to further improve the effectiveness of cooperation between funds and investment enterprises of each country in potential areas such as infrastructure, transportation, seaports, renewable energy, etc.
In tourism, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that Vietnam wants to welcome more tourists from Qatar and the Gulf region.
The two sides also discussed specific measures to promote cooperation in other potential areas such as skilled labor, energy, agriculture, education, green growth, and climate change response.
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan thanked Qatar for creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in Qatar to integrate well, stabilize their lives and work and study with peace of mind.
Within the framework of activities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), on May 5, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan met with the Emir of Ras Al Khaimah Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi.
The Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah is one of the seven Emirates of the UAE. His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi is the Emir of Ras Al Khaimah and one of the seven members of the Supreme Federal Council, the highest authority of the UAE.
The Emir of Ras Al Khaimah Sheikh Saud bin Saqr al Qasimi welcomed Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to visit the Emirate and congratulated Vietnam on its achievements.
The Emir shared that Vietnam and the UAE have many similarities in history, resilience and love of peace. He expressed his wish to strengthen cooperation between the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and Vietnam.
The Emir affirmed his readiness to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises to do business and invest, especially in the Emirate's special economic zones.
Appreciating the important contributions of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah to the prosperity and development of the UAE, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan affirmed that the two countries have great potential to promote cooperative relations.
The two sides agreed on a number of specific measures to deepen the cooperative relationship, such as studying the possibility of establishing cooperative relations between the Emirate and Vietnamese localities, coordinating the organization of cultural activities and people-to-people exchanges, promoting tourism and education, etc.
The Vice President proposed that relevant agencies of both sides continue to perfect the legal framework and important cooperation mechanisms such as the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), and soon establish the Vietnam-UAE Business Council to enhance business connections.
