North Korean news agency (KCNA) reported that on October 15, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un convened a consultation meeting on national defense and security.
Attending the meeting were North Korean Defense Minister No Kwang Chol, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Jo Chun Ryong, Chief of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army Ri Yong Gil, Deputy Chief of the General Staff and Director of the General Reconnaissance Bureau of the Korean People's Army Ri Chang Ho, Minister of State Security Ri Chang Dae and commanding officers of the General Staff of the Korean People's Army.

After hearing reports on the relevant work of the General Staff and combat readiness, leader Kim Jong Un made assessments and conclusions on the information and upcoming measures.
According to Yonhap, earlier on October 11, North Korea announced that South Korean drones carrying anti-North Korea propaganda leaflets had been spotted in the night sky of Pyongyang three times this month; threatening to respond with force if such flights occurred again. The North Korean military said on October 13 that it had ordered frontline artillery units to be ready to fire. In response to North Korea's military threat, the South Korean Defense Ministry warned that North Korea would face the "end of its regime" if it caused any harm to the South Korean people.
North Korea is preparing to carry out explosions on roads linking it to South Korea, South Korea said, just days after Pyongyang said it would cut off all inter-Korean rail and road links in a protest against joint military exercises between the United States and South Korea.
