The city is currently researching and proposing a Green Development Strategy Framework and is committed to allocating sufficient resources for implementation, aiming for net zero (zero net emissions) by 2050. Accordingly, the Green Development Strategy Framework to 2030, vision 2050, identifies people and businesses as the center of transformation and focuses on 4 contents:
Firstly , green resources include highly qualified human resources, green finance and international cooperation.
Second , green infrastructure, including green energy conversion, clean water and water saving, resource circulation.
Third , green behavior in green consumption, transportation and green construction.
Fourth , the pioneering green transformation industries include: high-tech manufacturing, green startups, innovation, tourism and agriculture, green food, especially the pilot project to build Can Gio district into the first green locality...
Along with the above Strategic Framework, at this Forum, Ho Chi Minh City hopes to listen to opinions, share and make recommendations on a number of issues such as green energy conversion, green transportation, waste and wastewater treatment and carbon credits, green Can Gio, green startups and green investments...
In particular, Resolution 98 allows the city to pilot carbon credit trading. This is a new issue that needs advice from organizations, experts, and businesses on legal issues, pilot models, and methods. Or the pilot project to build Can Gio into a green locality, a pioneer in implementing the net zero target by 2035, 15 years ahead of Vietnam's international commitment.
"A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. We are here and taking that first step. Ho Chi Minh City hopes to hear specific proposals and initiatives from delegates and hopes to continue to cooperate in the green journey towards the future and sustainable development," emphasized Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai.
