During the official visit to Japan, on the afternoon of August 9, in Hokkaido province, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son received Mr. Suzuki Naomichi, Governor of Hokkaido province. Attending the reception, on the side of Quang Ninh province were comrades: Dang Xuan Phuong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation; Nguyen Thi Hanh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

At the reception, Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son expressed his pleasure to visit Hokkaido province during his first official visit to Japan as Minister of Foreign Affairs at a time when the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in general and cooperation between Hokkaido province and Vietnam in particular have developed positively and comprehensively in all fields, with many outstanding marks. Appreciating and thanking Governor Suzuki Naomichi and the Hokkaido provincial government for their support and determination in promoting multifaceted cooperation with Vietnam, especially in the fields of labor, cultural exchange, people-to-people exchange, and tourism, Minister Bui Thanh Son suggested that Hokkaido province continue to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities in specific and substantive fields such as trade, investment, tourism, culture, and Japanese language teaching. The Minister encouraged businesses of the province to invest more in Vietnam in areas where Hokkaido province has strengths such as high-tech agriculture, forestry, seafood processing and export, etc.; Strengthen cooperation in training human resources, especially high-quality human resources in the semiconductor industry; expand the reception of Vietnamese interns; pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community to live, study and work in Hokkaido province.
Governor of Hokkaido - Mr. Suzuki Naomichi, on behalf of the leaders and people of Hokkaido, expressed his deep condolences on the passing of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. The Governor expressed his honor to welcome Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son to visit the province; informed Minister Bui Thanh Son about the cooperation situation between Hokkaido and Vietnam in recent times; affirmed that Hokkaido wishes to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese localities, receive more high-quality workers and Vietnamese technical interns to work in the province; agreed to promote cooperation in human resource training. The Governor of Hokkaido highly appreciated the contribution of the community of about 12,000 Vietnamese people, the largest foreign community in Hokkaido, to the socio-economic development of the province; wished to have more Vietnamese people come to work in Hokkaido and affirmed that he would continue to support the Vietnamese community living, studying and working here. The Governor also affirmed that he will continue to organize cultural and people-to-people exchange events such as the Vietnam Festival in Sapporo and the Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long to enhance the connection, affection and mutual understanding between the people of the two countries.
