The Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives (Hokuren) - the largest agricultural organization in Hokkaido, Japan - believes that Vietnam's abundant human resources are the factor they are looking for.
On December 12, during a working trip to Ho Chi Minh City, a delegation from the Federation of Agricultural Cooperatives (Hokuren) - the largest agricultural organization in Hokkaido, Japan, with a history of over 100 years - visited and worked at Tuoi Tre newspaper.
During the meeting, Mr. Sueji Shinohara, President of Hokuren, said that last year Hokkaido Province successfully organized the Hokkaido Festival in Ha Long City, Quang Ninh. The trip inspired him to come to Vietnam again. The delegation chose Ho Chi Minh City to explore opportunities for trade connections.
Hokkaido is Japan's leading agricultural production region with strong products such as fresh milk, potatoes, and red beans. It contributes greatly to the national market share with prominent products such as: fresh milk (57%), potatoes (82.5%), red beans (94.2%), and sugar beets (100%).
Hokuren Prefecture possesses advanced technology, business capacity and high farming techniques, while Vietnam has a young workforce and a large domestic market. Therefore, according to Hokuren's representative, the two sides can complement each other, especially Japan is facing problems with population reduction and aging, causing many challenges for Hokkaido's agricultural industry.
"Vietnam is a strategic partner with a large consumer market and abundant human resources. We wish to connect and share technology, especially smart agriculture and sustainable development, to benefit both countries," said Mr. Sueji Shinohara.
Specifically, the three areas Hokuren wishes to cooperate in are agricultural technology transfer, human resource exchange at both trainee and management levels. Finally, promoting the import of agricultural products from Hokkaido to Vietnam, forming a market for high-quality products.
Tuoi Tre Newspaper highly appreciates the potential for cooperation, especially in building green and sustainable agricultural development models, improving the quality of agricultural products, and promoting two-way trade.
Mr. Tran Xuan Toan - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Tuoi Tre Newspaper - said that many Japanese agricultural products are now present in Vietnam, however, information to consumers is still limited. Tuoi Tre Newspaper is ready to act as an information bridge, supporting trade promotion programs between Vietnam and Japan.
