On November 8 (Vietnam time), a high-ranking delegation of Ha Tinh province led by Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran The Dung and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Trong Hai visited and worked with the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan. Welcoming and working with the delegation was Comrade Pham Quang Hieu - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan. At the meeting, leaders of Ha Tinh province briefly informed about the socio-economic situation of the province in recent times.
Ha Tinh is a strategic location in terms of politics, economy, national defense and security. Despite many difficulties, Ha Tinh has promoted its potential advantages and become a well-off province in the region. Up to now, the whole province has 1,400 domestic investment projects, 69 foreign investment projects with a total investment of over 16 billion USD; it is one of the top 10 provinces in the country in attracting foreign direct investment. The province was selected by the Central Government as a pilot province to meet the new rural standards. The cultural and social fields have received attention and achieved many results; the political and social security situation has been maintained.
In particular, in May 2023, Ha Tinh successfully organized a conference to announce the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and promote investment in Ha Tinh. Accordingly, the province's development orientation and investment attraction are metallurgy, manufacturing, industrial park infrastructure, energy; high-tech agriculture; trade, services and tourism; deep-water port services and logistics. Ha Tinh is having friendly cooperative relations with many localities, partners, international organizations, foreign non-governmental organizations, and foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam.
Currently, Japan is Vietnam's leading economic cooperation partner and one of Ha Tinh's major bilateral funding partners. Japan has invested more than 720 billion VND in ODA capital and nearly 400 billion VND in non-governmental (NGO) aid capital in the fields of education and training, afforestation to respond to climate change, etc.
Regarding FDI investment, VAPCO (with Mitsubishi Corporation as the major shareholder, holding 60% of shares) is actively implementing the Vung Ang II Thermal Power Plant Project (with a capacity of 1,200 MW and a total investment of 2.2 billion USD) in the Vung Ang Economic Zone. The project started construction in December 2021 and is expected to be completed and put into use in the third quarter of 2025.
To achieve the above achievements, in addition to the efforts of the locality, the attention and support of the Government, ministries and central branches, there are also important contributions from diplomatic agencies, the Ha Tinh community abroad, international organizations, including the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan.
In order to further strengthen the cooperative relationship, Ha Tinh hopes that the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan will pay attention to supporting the province in the following areas: promoting and publicizing to businesses, corporations, organizations, and Japanese investor associations the potential, advantages, and investment incentive policies of Ha Tinh province; priority areas calling for investment, list of priority projects calling for investment in Ha Tinh, and support for the province to study the needs of the Japanese market for exportable products;
Support and create conditions for Ha Tinh to expand cooperation in areas such as: trade promotion, investment and development cooperation to attract FDI projects; renewable energy, electronics...; support in searching and introducing localities and partners with potential and similar conditions to sign comprehensive cooperation agreements; support scholarships, human resource training cooperation programs, especially high-quality human resources, human resource supply cooperation programs; care for and create conditions for overseas Vietnamese in Ha Tinh who are studying, working and living in Japan to have a stable and developing life.
Expressing his joy at receiving the high-ranking delegation of Ha Tinh, Comrade Pham Quang Hieu - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan was impressed and congratulated the results of socio-economic development and foreign affairs of the province in recent times. In particular, the working trip at the time when the two countries celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan further deepened the deep impressions, bringing the diplomatic relations of the two countries in general and Japan - Ha Tinh to develop more and more.
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to Japan also informed about the development situation of Japan in recent times as well as the needs and investment areas that Japanese enterprises are aiming for. The Embassy of Vietnam in Japan will continue to actively support Ha Tinh in promoting to Japanese enterprises and investors; help connect and introduce Ha Tinh to sign cooperation agreements with potential localities, contributing to supporting the increasingly strong socio-economic development of the locality; and strengthening the good diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and Japan.
