(Dan Tri) - Many reporters from Radio and Television stations in the Mekong Delta are calling for help because they are owed royalties and business expenses. Leaders of some stations have reported the situation to the Provincial People's Committee to find solutions to overcome the difficulties.

Regarding the petition for help due to unpaid royalties from the collective of cadres, reporters, editors, and technicians of An Giang Radio and Television Station , on March 27, in an exchange with Dan Tri reporter, the leader of An Giang Radio and Television Station said that the unit is asking for opinions from the Provincial Party Committee to resolve the immediate difficulties.

"We are asking for advice from the Provincial Party Committee to resolve the immediate difficulties for the station. There is no revenue from advertising, making it very difficult to pay staff, reporters, and employees," he said.

The leader of An Giang Radio and Television Station informed that the money the station owes its employees is royalties, while basic salaries are still paid according to regulations every month.

Previously, on March 26, social networks circulated a petition said to be from a group of officials, reporters, and employees of the Radio and Television Station sent to the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, and many press agencies in An Giang province.

According to the petition, the collective of reporters, editors, and technicians of An Giang Radio and Television Station have encountered many difficulties as the station has not paid salaries and royalties since June 2023 until now.

In addition to An Giang, the staff of Can Tho City Radio and Television Station also filed a petition for help because they were owed royalties and business expenses for 20 months, from August 2023 to present.

" There were days when we had to starve ourselves to save every penny, and there were long nights of tossing and turning worrying about tomorrow's meals. Business trips that should have been a source of pride and responsibility now became a nightmare when we didn't have enough money for gas and transportation. We had to borrow money everywhere, and had to run around for every penny just to complete the assigned tasks.

"The meager salaries are not enough to cover our living expenses, and the outstanding royalties and business expenses have left us in dire straits," the petition for help stated.

Regarding the incident, a leader of Can Tho City Radio and Television Station affirmed that the station still paid full salaries to staff at the beginning of the month. As for royalties, they were only paid late, not not paid at all.

Speaking with Dan Tri, a reporter from Can Tho City Radio and Television Station shared that the royalties and business expenses for 20 months that the station has not paid to this person up to now is more than 200 million VND.

According to this reporter, some young people have quit their jobs because their income is unstable. Those who have worked for a long time have started a side business or have to pay monthly business expenses to maintain their jobs, but the process of making an advance payment is very difficult. Reporters who live in rented houses have a hard time maintaining their jobs and stabilizing their lives.

At Soc Trang Provincial Radio and Television Station , many officers and employees also said that for the past 15 months they have not received any royalties or remuneration.

"Recently, some people have quit their jobs and are asking for leave, perhaps partly because this income debt is making it difficult for them," said an employee of Soc Trang Provincial Radio and Television Station.

According to this employee, on average the station owes each person at least 50 million VND in royalties and salaries, depending on job position.

The leader of Soc Trang Province Radio and Television Station confirmed the incident and said that the amount of money the station owes its employees is about 15 billion VND.

"Recently, we were unable to order programs and advertising has decreased, so we have no source of income. Currently, the station is still paying our employees' salaries, business expenses, etc. in full," the leader added.

According to the leader of Soc Trang Radio and Television Station, the station's operations are still running normally. The unit has also reported to the Provincial People's Committee to resolve the difficulties.
