On the evening of December 20, at Nguyen Dai Nang Square, the Town Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Kinh Mon Town held a ceremony to receive the Second Class Labor Medal and announce the decision to recognize the town as a Type III urban area.

Reporting on the process of building a type III urban area, Chairman of Kinh Mon Town People's Committee Bui Xuan Loc informed that with its favorable geographical location, being the northeastern gateway of the province, Kinh Mon is identified as one of the four dynamic urban areas of Hai Duong.
Immediately after the district was re-established in 1997, Kinh Mon focused on implementing urban development goals. From the core urban area of Kinh Mon town, the locality built and developed 3 towns: Kinh Mon, Phu Thu and Minh Tan, which were recognized as type IV urban areas at the end of 2014. By March 15, 2019, the entire Kinh Mon district, including 22 communes and 3 towns, was recognized as type IV urban areas. On September 11, 2019, the National Assembly Standing Committee issued a Resolution to establish Kinh Mon town with 14 wards and 9 communes.
Based on the achieved results in urban construction, the Resolution of the 17th Hai Duong Provincial Party Congress and the Resolution of the 25th Kinh Mon Town Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term determined to build Kinh Mon town to meet the criteria of a type III urban area before 2025 and strive to become a city directly under the province before 2030. This policy was once again affirmed in Resolution No. 35-NQ/TU in 2020 of the Provincial Party Standing Committee on the construction and development of Kinh Mon town in the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2045.
With great efforts and determination, Kinh Mon town has turned policies into concrete actions, especially focusing on urban planning and management. The town has focused on completing urban projects and programs, creating a solid foundation for urban orientation and development. Proactively establishing architectural management regulations, perfecting urban management and development institutions. Leadership and direction in land management and urban order have been strengthened. The green - clean - beautiful urban environment has been gradually renovated and restored. Urban infrastructure is increasingly spacious with many large-scale projects, creating a new look for the young city. From 2020 to present, Kinh Mon town has spent more than 10,000 billion VND to serve the goal of urban construction.
Not stopping there, the town is simultaneously implementing 5 key projects on connecting traffic, 6 urban and new residential area projects with a total planning area of over 214 hectares. Kinh Mon also focuses on attracting investment with many solutions. In addition to proactively creating conditions and removing difficulties for businesses and investors, the town is interested in hard criteria on technical infrastructure to improve competitiveness in attracting investment.
In order to make the most of natural advantages, the town has planned a logistics investment project of 44.3 hectares with a total investment of over 1,400 billion VND in Minh Hoa commune and a golf course project in Hiep Hoa commune with an area of 72.7 hectares. The implementation of these projects will create a new economic and social momentum for the town. Thereby creating a green environment, contributing to the budget, transforming the economic structure, creating jobs for people and promoting the development of the service and tourism industries.
With continuous efforts, Kinh Mon town has completed 5 urban criteria, with a score of 86.36/100 points. On September 16, 2024, the Minister of Construction signed a decision to recognize Kinh Mon town as a type III urban area. In which, the inner city area includes 14 wards and 8 suburban communes.
The achievements of Kinh Mon town in urban planning, investment, construction and development have made positive contributions to the socio-economic development of Hai Duong province, and have been recognized by the Party and the State. On December 11, 2024, the President decided to award the Second Class Labor Medal to the Party Committee, government and people of Kinh Mon town. This is an important milestone in the development process and the result of tireless efforts, a great encouragement and motivation for the Party Committee, government and people of Kinh Mon town.
