(HNMO) - On May 8, Hoan Kiem District Police (Hanoi) informed that there was no murder in the area, nor was there an incident as rumored on social networks about many groups of young people carrying weapons fighting and causing chaos around the Opera House, resulting in one victim's death.
Previously, on social media, images were circulating that at around 11:10 p.m. on May 7, a fight broke out in the Opera House area, accompanied by a young man wearing shorts and a black T-shirt lying down on the sidewalk at the intersection of Trang Tien and Ly Thai To streets. These images were spread on social media along with a lot of false information that a fight broke out between two groups of young men carrying homemade spears, causing chaos on the street. At the end of the fight, the young man died on the sidewalk from multiple stab wounds with a spear.
Hoan Kiem District Police informed that during that time, there was a collision between two groups of teenagers and one victim (identity is being clarified) was attacked and collapsed on the sidewalk. The incident was promptly intervened, the police were present to disperse the crowd and take the victim to the hospital.
The victim did not die as rumored. The incident was simply a conflict between groups of teenagers in daily life, there was no gang using weapons to fight each other.
Hoan Kiem District Police are continuing to investigate the case.
