Born in 1942 amid the strong development of the national liberation movement, the National Salvation Newspaper - the propaganda agency of the Vietnam Independence Alliance (Viet Minh) with the mission of calling on and mobilizing compatriots to join forces and unite to fight the French, expel the Japanese, and gain independence and freedom.

The path of formation and development was full of hardships and glory. The National Salvation Newspaper (1942-1977) accompanied the fate of the country and left a deep impression in the hearts of the people. In particular, as the propaganda agency of the Vietnam Independence League (Viet Minh), the National Salvation Newspaper was directly managed by General Secretary Truong Chinh on behalf of the Party from 1942 to 1944 and from 1944 by comrade Xuan Thuy as Editor-in-Chief.

Dai Doan Ket Newspaper cooperated with the locality to make a memorial stele for the Editorial Board of Cuu Quoc Newspaper - the predecessor of Dai Doan Ket Newspaper - this place became a red address to educate the traditions of generations.

Although Dai Doan Ket Newspaper has gone through many stages, its mission has never changed. The first name of the newspaper was Cuu Quoc - The newspaper never had a moment of rest, carrying the mission of propagating the National Salvation, calling on the people to follow the revolution, uniting to fight the resistance to success. Then came the time of the birth of Giai Phong Newspaper - gathering all forces to liberate the invasion in South Vietnam.

In early 1977, Liberation Newspaper completed its historic mission, National Salvation merged with Liberation Newspaper, and took the name Dai Doan Ket. Continuing the glorious tradition of the two newspapers, Dai Doan Ket is still the newspaper deeply attached to the people, to the great national unity bloc, accompanying the revolutionary cause, the nation, and the country. Dai Doan Ket is the place to gather and convey opinions, consultations, and criticisms on major issues of the country.

More motivation to keep trying

Touching that emotion, he was both very proud and worried that, in the development of journalism today, there is a generation of journalists who only know journalism as a profession - a profession just to make money like any other profession without understanding journalism, not understanding what revolutionary journalism is, especially the young generation of 9X, 2K, many people do not care about historical traditions.

Faced with that reality, “ My management viewpoint and that of the Party Committee and the Editorial Board is that if you don’t know about tradition, don’t talk about the future. This is not a theory, but a reality, an objective reality. In the talks on the occasion of the newspaper’s founding anniversary, the anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, in addition to the Party Committee and the Editorial Board organizing a “return to the source” for the entire agency so that everyone knows about the place where their newspaper was born, the place where our ancestors did journalism and where the news was written in blood, where previous generations made revolution through propaganda and communication so well… From there, we can see that the difficulties of the present, the hardships of the present are nothing compared to a development journey accompanying the nation, especially during the war years…” – journalist Le Anh Dat affirmed.

In particular, journalist Le Anh Dat shared that Dai Doan Ket Newspaper always considers traditional education a task that cannot be taken lightly. He said that this work is done regularly, not just every spring and autumn on the occasion of anniversaries. In agency meetings, the head of the agency still discusses more about traditions, about the value of the profession and requests the journalist association to organize talks and exchanges with new reporters, reporters transferred from other newspapers or those who do not understand the history of the newspaper... In the near future, the Newspaper also plans to organize the return to the source, thematic activities in Tay Ninh - where Giai Phong Newspaper was born, along with many meaningful and effective return to the source activities in other locations...
