On September 18, Kon Tum City Forest Protection Department, Kon Tum Province decided to prosecute the case of "Forest Destruction" taking place in Sub-area 571 (Hoa Binh Commune, Kon Tum City, forest area managed by Plei Chor Village Community, Hoa Binh Commune).
As reported by SGGP Newspaper, when patrolling the above location, the interdisciplinary force discovered about 4,710 square meters of land in the forestry planning area being dug, scooped, and encroached upon.
Of which, the forested area is 3,850m2 , including 3,040m2 of protective forest and 810m2 of forest planned for other purposes. This is a natural evergreen forest, belonging to the forest area assigned to the Plei Chor Village Community (Hoa Binh Commune) for management and protection.
At the time of inspection, about 102 naturally regenerated trees were dug up and scooped up, and the volume of damaged wood was about 5,928m3 of round wood. Mr. Tran Dung Thoi (Hoa Binh commune, Kon Tum city) stated that Ms. Van Thi Hien (living in the same commune) hired him to dig up the above area to plant rubber trees.
