Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized this at the National Scientific Conference “Dien Bien promotes its potential and advantages for sustainable tourism development” held on the morning of March 17 in Dien Bien. The conference was jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the People's Committee of Dien Bien province and the National Political Publishing House Truth.

Speaking at the workshop, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha affirmed that the organization of the workshop is extremely necessary and meaningful for Dien Bien province, and even more meaningful when Dien Bien has just completed the announcement of the Provincial Planning for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: "This is a concrete action to put Dien Bien province's planning into practice, so that Dien Bien tourism can truly become a spearhead economic sector, creating momentum for the development of other economic sectors and the comprehensive development of Dien Bien."
Affirming that the potential for historical tourism, cultural tourism, ecological tourism, and experience of Dien Bien is a unique advantage, the Deputy Prime Minister also frankly assessed that the exploitation and promotion of the value of these potentials in Dien Bien is still not worthy.
Therefore, the Deputy Prime Minister hopes that managers, policy makers, and experts in the tourism industry will focus on discussing and proposing directions, solutions, and tasks for Dien Bien tourism to develop and make breakthroughs.
Secretary of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong said that the workshop was organized as a forum for managers, policy makers, and experts in the tourism industry to analyze and evaluate tourism potential and the effectiveness of tourism development resources in the overall socio-economic picture of Dien Bien province; evaluate the achieved results, clarify the "bottlenecks" and "knots" in Dien Bien tourism development.
At the same time, forecast the influencing factors, on that basis find solutions to promote and effectively exploit the core values of Dien Bien to develop tourism, attract and satisfy tourists, orient the development of Dien Bien tourism comprehensively, quickly and sustainably.
Many presentations at the Workshop have made practical contributions to the development of Dien Bien Tourism in particular and localities in the country in general. These include building a circular economic model, a green economy using resources, proactively protecting the ecological environment, and the goal of sustainable development; Developing tourism in Dien Bien province to contribute to the implementation of the planning for the period 2021 - 2023, with a vision to 2050; Issuing and supervising the implementation of tourism development policies in Dien Bien province...

Delegates attending the Workshop also clarified the main contents such as:
Firstly, affirming and deepening the theoretical and practical basis for sustainable tourism development in Vietnam and Dien Bien province, emphasizing that the main purpose of sustainable tourism development is to implement three pillars: Environment, culture - society and economy to develop in an even and harmonious way.
Second, analyze and evaluate closely and accurately the current status of tourism development; potentials and conditions for tourism development; influencing factors; issues arising for sustainable tourism development in Dien Bien province.
Third, discuss and propose directions, tasks and solutions to promote tourism development in Dien Bien province in a fast and sustainable manner from now until 2025, with a vision to 2030.
By 2025, strive to increase the proportion of added value of tourism service industries to account for about 10% of the province's GRDP; by 2030, the average growth rate of visitors will reach 15%/year and total revenue from tourism activities will increase by an average of over 14%/year, as set out in Resolution No. 03-NQ/TU, dated May 7, 2021 of the Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee on tourism development in Dien Bien province to 2025, with a vision to 2030.
The national scientific conference "Dien Bien promotes its potential and advantages for sustainable tourism development" is one of the specific and practical activities within the framework of the activities of the National Tourism Year - Dien Bien and towards the 70th Anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024).
