Towards green transformation from national resources
Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman congratulated Vietnam on its outstanding achievements in the green transformation and sustainable development journey in recent years. According to him, Vietnam has marked many important steps in this process, from mitigating the impact of climate change, responding to natural disasters to developing human resources to meet new requirements.
“Those efforts show that Vietnam is on the right track in its sustainable development strategy,” the Bangladeshi diplomat said.
Ambassador Rahman also highly appreciated Vietnam's potential in the field of green transformation, especially emphasizing its geographical and population advantages. "Vietnam has a favorable territory and a large population - this is the force that can be trained to adapt to the requirements of green transformation and participate in global efforts to minimize the impact of climate change," he affirmed.
In addition, the Ambassador welcomed the strategic vision of Vietnamese leaders in the green transition process. He emphasized that Vietnam has a leadership team with long-term thinking, understands the challenges and has established cooperative relationships with many pioneering countries in responding to climate change, while actively approaching appropriate technologies.
With these foundations, the Ambassador believes, “Vietnam has all the necessary conditions to promote green transformation and can absolutely become a model in the efforts of green transformation and sustainable development.”
People are the center
Sharing his thoughts on the theme of “Sustainable and People-Centered Green Transformation” of the P4G 2025 Summit, Ambassador Rahman said that both Vietnam and Bangladesh are implementing many human resource development programs for clean energy production, green energy management and energy transition implementation.
“The two countries have established task forces, government agencies and organizations to undertake this task. Above all, the workforce in both Vietnam and Bangladesh is being trained to be able to contribute effectively and practically to the green transition process,” he affirmed.
Referring to Bangladesh’s experience in green transformation, especially in the garment industry – one of the South Asian country’s key export sectors, Ambassador Rahman said that the government has issued an industrial policy requiring businesses to comply with clean energy and green transformation criteria. The policy was developed through close consultation with international partners and organizations.
“In fact, many businesses in Bangladesh are now strictly following clean energy and sustainable development standards, while still ensuring the preservation of a green and healthy living environment,” the Ambassador pointed out.
Besides, he believes that the remarkable common point between Vietnam and Bangladesh is that they both put people at the center of all development strategies.
“I regularly follow Vietnam and see that you are implementing green industrial policies resolutely, paying special attention to improving the quality of life and promoting the role and capacity of people in the process of sustainable development,” the Ambassador emphasized.
With the comments from Ambassador Mohammad Lutfor Rahman, it can be seen that Vietnam is receiving positive recognition from the international community in its green transformation journey. In addition, the similarities in development strategies between Vietnam and Bangladesh are also expected to open up more prospects for deeper cooperation in the future between the two Asian countries.
Vietnam will host the fourth Partnership for Green Growth and the Global Goals (P4G) Summit from April 14-17. This is a multilateral cooperation mechanism initiated by Denmark in 2017 and has the participation of 8 other member countries: Vietnam, Korea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Colombia, the Netherlands, Indonesia, South Africa and 5 partner organizations: World Resources Institute (WRI), Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI), C40 network (C40 cities), World Economic Forum (WEF) and International Finance Corporation (IFC). P4G has gone through three Summits hosted by Denmark, South Korea and Colombia, aiming to promote public-private partnerships and create a coalition of political leaders to implement the Paris Agreement on climate change and the 2030 sustainable development goals. |
