Russia's precision strike
On July 17, SF reported that the Russian army attacked a gathering of Ukrainian National Guard troops in the Kharkov region. The airstrike was carried out by Russia using Iskander-M tactical ballistic missiles.
According to Russian media, this military concentration was detected by Russian reconnaissance aircraft. It is located near the settlement of Peresechnoye, where soldiers of the 13th Brigade "Khartia" of the National Guard of Ukraine are stationed.
Video footage of the attack surfaced on July 16. It shows an Iskander-M missile coming down shortly after several buses filled with soldiers appear. Later in the video, ambulances are seen arriving at the scene of the airstrike.

The Iskander-M missile has a range of nearly 500km. It can be equipped with various conventional warheads, including cluster warheads, fuel-air enhanced explosive warheads, high-explosive fragmentation warheads, ground-penetrating warheads for bunker busting, and electromagnetic pulse devices for anti-radar missions.
The highly maneuverable missile is guided by an inertial navigation system with GLONASS support. It can also be equipped with an optical seeker with a digital mapping area correlation system for terminal guidance.
Russia has stepped up production of Iskander-M missiles since it began a special military operation in Ukraine more than two years ago.
In recent months, the Russian military has begun relying more heavily on missiles to quickly strike high-value Ukrainian targets far from the front line.
Russia makes progress in Krasny Liman
In recent days, Russian forces have been conducting offensive operations in the area of the village of Makeevka in the direction of Krasny Liman. According to Ukrainian military sources, Russian troops have taken control of the village.
For about a year, the situation on the front line in the direction of Krasny Liman has not changed much, despite fierce fighting. However, in recent months, the Russian army has launched attacks in various directions, including the Kharkov region, forcing the Ukrainian Armed Forces to concentrate large reserves of troops to strengthen defenses in specific areas. As a result, the Ukrainian defense has been weakened along the entire front. This has allowed the Russian army to make significant advances despite only localized attacks.

The latest major Russian advance in the Krasny Liman direction is the village of Makeevka, located on the banks of the Zherebets River. Russian military sources deny that Russian forces have taken control of the village, but claim that they have gained a foothold in the east. The battle for Makeevka is still ongoing.
Taking control of the village of Makeevka would allow the Russian army to gain a strategically important stronghold on the west bank of the Zherebets River, which would threaten Ukraine's defenses throughout the region.
