Local media were quick to report the incident. AVP cited information from the Dumskaya publication, which said the explosion was caused by the operation of the air defense system in Odessa. However, thick smoke appeared in the city, which suggests that the Russian missile was not intercepted.
The State Border Service of Ukraine (BS) has also issued a warning about possible drone activity in the Odessa region.
Earlier, early on the morning of July 15, a comprehensive air strike warning was announced across Ukraine.
Russia airstrikes with upgraded FAB-3000 bombs
On July 14, the Russian Ministry of Defense released a video recording the airstrike using FAB-3000 bombs. Accordingly, Su-34 fighter jets deployed airstrikes using FAB-3000 bombs upgraded with a common planning and adjustment module.

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, the attack was aimed at a Ukrainian military target in the area of responsibility of the Sever Group of Forces (Russia). This group of forces operates mainly in the direction of Kharkov.
The FAB-3000 is a 3,000kg multi-purpose unguided bomb. When upgraded with the joint planning and adjustment module, the FAB-3000 heavy bomb can attack targets with high precision thanks to the GLONASS-supported inertial navigation system. This equipment also allows the bomb to glide and hit targets at a range of up to 80km.
The joint planning and adjustment module kit was developed by the Russian Bazalt Scientific and Technical Bureau to convert Soviet-era unguided bombs into precision-guided bombs. The joint planning and adjustment module was first fitted to the FAB-250 and 500 bombs. Later, larger models were developed for the FAB-1500 and 3000.
Special models are also said to have been developed for the ODAB-500 and 1500 thermobaric bombs as well as the RBK-500 cluster bomb.

According to SF, the first use of the upgraded FAB-3000 bomb was near the Lyptsi settlement in the direction of Kharkov on June 2.
The long range, high accuracy and high explosive power of the FAB-3000 will give the Russian Aerospace Forces the ability to strike fortified Ukrainian military positions and infrastructure on and below the ground from a fairly safe distance.
