The draw results put Thanh Hoa in group A with Shan United, Svay Rieng, PSM Makassar, Terengganu and BG Pathum United.

Meanwhile, CAHN Club is in Group B with teams Borneo Samarinda, Lion City Sailor FC, Kaya FC Iioilo, Buriram United and Kuala Lumpur City.

The teams will compete in a round robin in the group stage (5 matches) to select the top two teams from each group to advance to the semi-finals and then the final. The semi-finals and finals will take place in a home and away format similar to the AFF Cup at the national team level.
