Speaking at the ceremony, People's Artist Trinh Thuy Mui - President of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association, Head of the Festival Steering Committee - said that the event is one of the most important professional activities of the Vietnam Stage Artists Association in 2024, and is also an activity to celebrate the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 1955 - May 13, 2024) and the Red Flamboyant Festival - Hai Phong in 2024.
"The festival is organized to overcome the shortage of theatrical works serving teenagers and children in recent times; at the same time, promote the role and responsibility of theatrical arts and those working in the field of theatrical arts towards the future owners of the country.
This is also an opportunity for artists and actors to exchange and learn about skills, academics and artistic creation techniques, to improve their professional qualifications and create works with ideological values suitable for teenagers and children," said Ms. Mui.

The first time, the National Stage Arts Festival for Children and Youth took place from May 13 to 20 in Hai Phong City, with 14 stage art units from across the country and 17 art works participating. The stage works brought to the festival are diverse in genres, including: Drama, musical, circus, Cheo, puppetry, magic, song and dance drama, etc.
At the opening ceremony, People's Artist Xuan Bac - Director of the Vietnam Drama Theater, Head of the Jury - participated in the narration, stirring up the atmosphere and receiving enthusiastic responses from the children. Many children laughed out loud when the male artist talked to them and guided them to participate in fun games.
After that, the audience enjoyed the performance of the Hai Phong Puppetry Troupe with the play The Adventures of Men the Cricket (directed by People's Artist Nguyen Tien Dung). The play tells an engaging story about the adventures and experiences of Men the Cricket and the life lessons learned through the art of puppetry.
With natural acting, the young audiences were very excited to follow the story and the professional puppetry of the cast. In addition, youthful and trendy lines such as "che nha", "anh em nuong yu"... were also used by the artists, making the play more familiar to young audiences.
The Organizing Committee hopes that the Festival will contribute to creating motivation and improving the quality of service for children, contributing to building the personality of the future owners of the country. The second goal is to build a young audience for the stage in the future.
