On March 27, in Ho Chi Minh City, the opening ceremony of UK Technology Week in Southeast Asia 2025 took place.
This is one of the leading events dedicated to promoting digital innovation and strong partnerships between the UK and the Southeast Asia region, especially Vietnam.
Taking place over two days, from 27-28 March, this year’s event marks an important milestone in the process of closer digital transformation cooperation between the UK and Vietnam.
Vice Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Tran Thi Dieu Thuy said that the city is focusing on investing in developing digital infrastructure; developing new key industries such as design industry, manufacturing electronic components, microchips, new materials, clean and renewable energy.

At the same time, promote digital transformation and apply achievements of the 4.0 Industrial Revolution such as financial technology, Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, smart manufacturing and Big Data in building smart cities.
According to Ms. Tran Thi Dieu Thuy, Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City are ready to welcome the wave of investment and high-tech knowledge to become an important link in the supply chain of knowledge-intensive, high-value industries, increasingly integrating deeply into the global value chain.
Ho Chi Minh City is committed to continuing to improve policies and create the most favorable and transparent investment and business conditions to attract international investors and talents, including the UK, to Ho Chi Minh City.
At the event, 12 UK AI and data pioneers came to explore opportunities to collaborate with Vietnamese partners in the technology ecosystem.
UK Tech Week in Southeast Asia 2025 brings together CEOs, pioneers, technology experts… with many diverse activities.
Specifically, the meeting between the British Ambassador to Vietnam and the Director of the Department of Science and Technology of Ho Chi Minh City to discuss the establishment of a UK Technology Expertise Center to conduct AI governance training in Vietnam; discuss the policy and regulatory framework related to technology and innovation, as well as opportunities for increased cooperation in the future.
The sessions will explore topics such as the role of AI in transforming global healthcare systems, women shaping technology in Southeast Asia, success stories of UK-Vietnam technology collaboration, and collaborative initiatives between Thailand, Vietnam and the UK.

The UK's tech industry is valued at more than $1 trillion, while Southeast Asia's digital economy is also forecast to reach new heights.
