Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Tran Van Siem - Chairman of Duy Hai Commune People's Committee said that after 50 years of liberation of the homeland and nearly 40 years of re-establishment of the commune, Duy Hai has had many clear changes. From a barren sandy commune, the economy mainly depended on agriculture with low productivity; aquatic exploitation was mainly by small, rudimentary means, with limited output; infrastructure was underdeveloped, transportation was difficult due to dependence on ferries...; up to now, Duy Hai has gradually developed towards urbanization.
