Troubleshooting after the fire on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street

At about 9:40 p.m. on April 1, a fire broke out on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, near the intersection of Nguyen Binh Khiem - Mac Cuu, in Vinh Thanh and Vinh Quang wards.

After receiving the report from the people, Vinh Quang Ward Police, Rach Gia City reported to the fire prevention and fighting force of Kien Giang Provincial Police for support in fighting the fire. Vinh Quang Ward People's Committee mobilized the ward police force, security and order protection force, and people of Dong Khoi Quarter, Vinh Quang Ward to participate in fighting the fire with the on-duty staff of Rach Gia Electricity Company, and the neighborhood security force. About 20 minutes later, the fire was extinguished.

According to Rach Gia Power Company's report, upon receiving the report, Rach Gia Power Company's shift staff arrived at the scene and discovered a fire in the telecommunications cable at tower 475RG/81/33/7/24, line 476VQ, low-voltage tower DK1/3-2 of Dong Khoi 1 station (these two towers are located across the road and share the low-voltage tower of Dong Khoi 1 station) and the cable section crossing the road between these two towers.

The fire broke the ABC 4x95 low-voltage cable at pole 475RG/81/33/7/24; burned some power lines supplying customers at pole 475RG/81/33/7/24 and pole DK1/3-2; burned the entire telecommunication cable at pole 475RG/81/33/7/24 and part of pole DK1/3-2 and the entire road crossing at this pole. The initial cause of the fire was determined to be due to the load-bearing cable of the telecommunication cable short-circuiting with the electric wire of the street light causing the fire.

After controlling the fire, Rach Gia Power Company repaired the low-voltage power lines that night to restore power to customers. Network operators Viettel, VNPT, SCTV... coordinated to pull back the telecommunication cables; Rach Gia Power Company stretched the cables to support the load so that the network operators could rehang the telecommunication cables.

In the future, Rach Gia Power Company plans and requests network operators to coordinate in handling the clearance and tidying up of telecommunication cables on Nguyen Binh Khiem Street in April 2025. At the same time, Rach Gia Power Company requests the unit in charge of the street lighting system on the electricity poles of the Power Company in Rach Gia City to regularly check the lighting system and have solutions to prevent short circuits with telecommunication cables.
