The Belgian midfielder's contract with Man City expires at the end of this season and he has confirmed he will leave the club as a free agent.
"My last days at Man City have come. It's not easy to write these words, but as players, we all knew this day would come. And today, I wanted to be the one to tell you," De Bruyne wrote on his personal page.
"Football brought me to all of you and to this city. I followed my dream, but I had no idea that this time would change my life. This city. This club. These people… gave me everything. And I gave everything! And you know – together we won everything there is to win!", De Bruyne expressed his gratitude.
"Whether we like it or not, it's time to say goodbye... Every story has an end, but this is definitely the best chapter of my life. Let's enjoy these last moments together!", De Bruyne shared, "This will always be my home".
During a decade with Man City, De Bruyne became one of the greatest players in the club's history, winning a total of 16 titles, including 6 Premier League titles, 5 League Cups, 2 FA Cups, 2 Community Shields and especially the prestigious Champions League title.
An icon, a legend, a golden chapter has come to an end – but De Bruyne's love for Man City will remain forever.
